Oh!,before the ‘oooh! you got home quick’ brigade jump up and down….I’m actually still on my jollies (abroad), there is a serious ‘forfeit’ I have conceded to Mrs Micky to allow me to watch this game………….and after that performance it’s going to be…………… well a bit ‘different’ – aftersun has its uses after all.
Roll on the glorious fourteenth.

5 August 2010 at 1:01 am #41666cant believe some people on here defend gomez – then want kapo, koumas & de ridder strung up by their nether regions – all three of them are 10 times the players gomez is.
perhaps koumas could drop him off in swansea on his way to cardiff.

5 August 2010 at 11:45 am #41697I don’t know why everyone has a go at Gomez, I mean he takes part and that’s all that counts, what more can you ask for?Gomez is part of the governments non competitive sport initiative
5 August 2010 at 12:53 pm #41701I’ve been a fan for 25 years, and in that time, Latics fans have ALWAYS targetted a player for abuse and to use as a ‘scapegoat’.
Get off Gomez’ back, FFS!
Booing his first touch? Get outta town, tools.
I wonder about some people. if they actually ARE Latics fans. I think they just go for a moan. I was disgusted with the abuse last night.
5 August 2010 at 1:37 pm #41705I totally agree we should never boo our own players its totally counter productive. He should be either loaned out, sold or at least actually played on the left which is his natural position.
The obsession Martinez has with playing wide midfield players on the ‘wrong’ side does not suit all players and with his over reliance on his left foot it causes him and the team big problems playing him on the right all the time. He actually did a few decent crosses last night and may have played better if the boo boys had shut TFU for a change.
I wish they’d go and shove vuvuzelas up own their arses if they want noise for the sake of it.
5 August 2010 at 3:38 pm #41709I don’t know why everyone has a go at Gomez, I mean he takes part and that’s all that counts, what more can you ask for?I could take part but I reckon fans would soon be on my back as i am 47 and well past my footballing days !! :(

:lol:5 August 2010 at 4:04 pm #41715I had typed a fairly lengthy discourse on this subject which has just been lost as my machine crashed on me. Being busy for once, I don’t have the time nor inclination to repeat it.
Suffice to say, although Gomez didn’t help his cause at times last night, he wasn’t helped by being picked in a position where he can make minimal contribution nor by know-nowt morons booing him before he had even (mis-)controlled his first pass.
On the positive side, Stam and Alcaraz looked good and I was very impressed with the young lad Golobart (sp?). A centre-half who communicates clearly – and in English, of all things. Whatever next?
McArthur looked industrious but he really needs to lose that one-trick stepover thing.
Other than that, it was a pre-season friendly – enough said.
5 August 2010 at 4:36 pm #41723Didn’t get to the game last night, visiting sick father in hospital, only saw last half on the net. Quite liked Stam, keen to go forward but also got back well. At least 3 times he passed a ball to Gomez and ran forward for the return ball. Did he get it? No! Gomez did his usual thing of a quick circle on the ball and played it into midfield. The defence got a bit sloppy in the 2nd half. Alcaraz did OK but Gohouri’s passing out from defence was quite poor. Their 3rd goal also came from a sloppy clearance this time from Gomez. Having said that I am still confident about the coming season.
