Maybe relegation will be a blessing.
Why?
1. The parachute payments we will receive.
2. The money we will generate from player sales.
3. The money saved from those players wages.
Ok, there are good things and bad things, financially, about us going down. One thing is for sure, we had better accept now that we will have a very different side in the Championship. Probably minus Nzogbia, Rodallega, Boselli, Figueroa, at the very least.
The plus side is, any spending on players will be on a lower scale. We’ve already started that by signing Sammon for £600,000. I’d expect a few £500,000 signings. A new keeper is a must.
3 March 2011 at 1:54 pm #61081I could be wrong here but could Dave Whelan possibly have turned the debt into equity because of the new UEFA Financial Fair Play Rules ? These rules effect ( or will do ) the smaller clubs and not just the clubs who aspire to play in Europe !
3 March 2011 at 7:13 pm #61123Plenty players over the last six or more seasons have made a fortune out of our club and put themselves in the shopping window to make even more money.
Unlike Dave Whelan they have had to do very little for that.4 March 2011 at 12:37 am #61176During our six years int prem, how much ave SKY give us?……………..do tell Grifford, seein as yer Whelans spokesman! :?

Jimmy T’s take on it….
4 March 2011 at 2:06 pm #61228I would have expected last years accounts to have been poor, but we seem to have got rid of a lot of big earners of the wage bill in the summer, that combined with player sales, I think we will be in credit next year.
Also, Whelan has come out and said this week he will do right by Wigan, so worry ye not.
