Brazilian club Gremio are to ban their fans from performing their famous ‘avalanche’ celebration after eight supporters were injured last month when a fence collapsed.The celebration involves the crowd behind the nets charging en masse to the front of the stand after a goal is scored.
“We have to face the facts after what happened. There’s no alternative but to install seats,” club president Fabio Koff tells Brazilian media.
Probably only about 25 years behind the times, there. Good to know they are on the ball with crowd safety. After all, it’s not as if they have a big global tournament taking place there next year or anything like that.
