17 January 2011 at 5:30 pm #55868Scott Green. Only player I ever saw being booked while warming up as a sub.
I remember that. Was it at Reading in the play offs, or am I getting my incidents mixed up? (Think I am)
A Reading fan ran on and had a go at him, didn’t he?
All those balloons all over the pitch……sigh. Ah well….[/quote]
’twas last game of the season agaisnt Bristol city. Reading needed to win (?) and didnt so we made it to the play offs.
he got booked warming up on the touchline for tackling one of the city players
17 January 2011 at 6:02 pm #55869only little but i reckon darren sheridan would have a good go :)
17 January 2011 at 6:11 pm #55871kevin nicholls aswell, looked like he could handle himself
17 January 2011 at 8:36 pm #55879Scott Green. Only player I ever saw being booked while warming up as a sub.I was going to shout for Green too.
I remember that game, wasnt he warming up on the touch line when the ball went out of play and end up punching one for their men?17 January 2011 at 11:53 pm #55903Wasn’t the Scott Green booking in a game against Swindon at the JJB? Just checked, according to Soccerbase, there was a game v Swindon in 2001 where he came on after 80 minutes and was booked (doesnt mention time of booking though).
As for hardmen….Campbell, Johnson are just 2 that spring to mind, and from (very) vague memory, I reckon Colin Methven wasn’t shy at going in for a tackle.
Oh and that story about King and the ref’s boots is quality!!
17 January 2011 at 11:58 pm #55904Anonymous
Stevie Walsh liked the odd bruising tackle if I remember correctly
18 January 2011 at 5:08 pm #55964A few more:
De Zeuww
Larry Lloyd
Archie Gemmill
Mark Hilditch
Mark LeonardI wouldn’t have messed with Stan the man McEwan either. And he had the hardest shot ever as well.
Special subcategory – hardest keeper – Chris Kirkland (joking…..). Probably John Filan….
18 January 2011 at 6:47 pm #55970I thought the Scott Green incident was against Stoke at the JJB.
I remember Neil Davids being pretty hard.
Kevin Smart was mental
18 January 2011 at 8:00 pm #55972Graham barrow… I read in Mick Quinn’s very entertaining book ” who ate all the pies” in the chapter when he had a spell at Springfield Park. Larry Lloyd who was a bit of a bully by all accounts said something to barrow which he did not like and offered out Lloyd for straightener which he bottled out of.
