Mrs Standish is expecting child number two, and we had the twenty week scan today, and found out it’s going to be another boy.
Absolutely chuffed to bits, I asked our three year old son what we should call his little brother. His reply was ‘Daddy, let’s call him Titus’
The Mrs saw my brain ticking over and quickly said ‘No chance!’
Don’t think I’ll get Arjan or Hugo under the radar either.
So, good people, has anyone on here named a child after a Latics player, or after something Latics related?
Or more to the point, any suggestions for me – preferably ones that the Mrs won’t clock onto?

2 October 2009 at 1:07 am #10105First of all massive congrats to you and your family and best wishes.
I know a few people that say theyv’e named their little uns after tics, David after David Lowe, Mike after Mike Newell and Anthony after Tony Kelly. Out of the current crop, Robert(o) Martin(ez) can’t be a bad shout for fist and middle name, Charles, Thomas (Hendry), You said you can’t twist the missus’ arm on Hugo but what about Rodney. legendary players from recentish years that could be decent names, Leighton, Stuart (Barlow), Lee (mac), Nathan or Jason, Jimmy (Bully), No Arjan but what about Harry. You could go on and on.
I watched that Slumdog Millionaire tother day and that girl in it has got a crackin name Latika, just change the K to a C and yer Laughing.

Yeah, fancy, naming your child after a fat, washed up, ******footballer………..
Named our eldest Ryan, with a slight influence being an admiration as a sportsman and role model of a certain Mr Giggs.
What about Maynor as a name? :P Or Jordi?

3 October 2009 at 12:14 am #10144I have just have my third child in Feb and we were the same. We were saying Emmerson (which I did like, I now a little boy called it), Hugo (I also know a little boy called it and he suits it loads), BRUCE (this was to wind up my 14 an 10 year olds though). In the end we called him Owen Patrick not after anyone football wise, but my dad,who is called Patrick.
But you do have some great choices. Paul, Emmerson, Thomas, Robert, Martin, Christopher, Hugo (I do like this name and it is very cool to be honest, it is of Scottish origin), Charles or Charlie (N’Zogbia), Jason. If you really wanted to go the whole hog…. David (Whelan!).Congratulations btw. I hope he’s not a crumper like my little one 9lb 11oz!!! and I am only 5 ft.
