15th or 16th is about right for us.
But if Whelan is coming out and saying these things, surely he has to be prepared to back that up with cash to spend in January? I think if we don’t strengthen, we could be in serious trouble this season.
Squad is too damn lightweight. Bradford showed that, and when we replaced Watson with Jones at Anfield….well, it’s just not good enough. We’ve no chance of Zaha, he’s going to go to a top club or even abroad. Gut feeling is United or Chelsea. I wouldn’t mind us being cheeky and trying to get Scholes or another experienced head on loan. What we haven’t got time really for is to bed in a new signing from abroad or the lower leagues. We need players who can come in and hit the ground running really. Make a difference and improvement from day one.

Yes you can comment on it, as can I. If he was talking to you in the Brick then yes, if he was going on about top half, you’d be well within your rights to laugh at him and call him delusional.But he’s not. He’s speaking to the national press, and if he’s wanting to attract fans, players and investors, he’s hardly likely to make the club sound ambitionless, broke and a certainty to finish in obscurity somewhere just above the relegation places.

Why on earth is it delusional to talk about finishing in the top 10. At the moment we are 5 points off 10th place and we haven’t hit anything like the sort of form we know from last season that we can produce.
So yes he may be being positive , he may be being optimistic , he may be bigging up the team – but being delusional – no way.

Do you honestly believe that fans, players and investors alike will take notice of his little pipe dreams ? He has been repeating the same mantra for the last 8 years and I don’t see a rush from any of the above do you ! If he wants his dreams to come to fruition then he must put his money where his mouth is or simply keep quiet ! What makes me laugh is that I like you fully expect the bottom 5 finish yet the drummer hating Roses fan seems to think it’s just me who is the realist !

What you are forgetting is that to reach his dream of the Prem and the new stadium he actually had to invest some of his money. I for one wouldn’t blame him for wanting to invest any more of his money and as I have mentioned on other threads I honestly think we have come as far as we can now. He needs to realise that is all I am trying to say and if he wants to take it to the next level that he talks of then I’m afraid he WILL have to dig deep yet again into those Farahs !
