Right, that’s enough whingeging about Saturday, it’s done and dusted, we lost. get over it.
It’s time to look forward to the next match at Oldham in the Cup.Should we go out with a weakened starting eleven or should we take it seriously for the first time in years and play our strongest side?
I would play the strongest side available and try to get them to gel as a team as quickly as possible.
I don’t believe in this ‘two games in a week is too much’ bollox, a team needs to play together as much as possible to gain knowledge and belief in how each other play.Go for it Gary, lets have a decent Cup run as well as gaining momentum in the league.
C’mon Wigan.
7 August 2016 at 9:50 pm #149852Well with the swapping and changing and experimenting in close season none of the squad could be knackered enough not to play again on Tuesday. Strongest team possible if we can. No reason not to go out and get a confidence boosting big win.
7 August 2016 at 11:43 pm #149853Well said Donald.
9 August 2016 at 12:21 am #149859Go strong and get a win.
10 August 2016 at 12:13 am #149886A bit too much to ask for as the team is swapped and changed with 3 defenders, 6 midfielders and the one thing that doesn’t change..one up top.
A makeshift, make do line up and a continuation of pre-season.10 August 2016 at 12:58 am #149889And down to ten men

10 August 2016 at 10:29 am #149892Looking forward to getting Ste Bruce back in!!! So he can f off and leave again. In Gary we trust.
10 August 2016 at 1:10 pm #149893In gary we do indeed trust. We had the same start this time last year. Keep the faith!!
10 August 2016 at 1:25 pm #149895A golden opportunity thrown away to keep the first choice 11 playing and gelling together whoever they may be and working together to get a confidence building win, if at all that is important.
Don’t know what the defence will look like but pisses me off every year that August games are still part of effectively a pre-season schedule with players involved in pre-season preparations who are not going to play any part in the season. Pre-season used to be about preparing the first team for the season but nowadays its just a meaningless warm up and August games are not much different because of the stupid transfer deadline system. We still have players to arrive and leave and the season is underway which is absolutely crazy.
We hear names who are coming and names that are leaving and we have just let two integral squad players from the promotion side last year go, right at the end of pre-season. There have been rumours all closed season these were leaving yet they have played through the pre-season schedules. Why ffs?
Season ticket buyers buy their tickets in advance so effectively this is an advance payment for a product they can not even identify at purchase time. A speculative buy through loyalty.
Strange game these days but this is something that isn’t just a Latics thing. All clubs now have squads rather than a first team and reserves and all fans must endure this unofficial extended pre-season.
Season starts in September and even then it could be October/November before our final squad forms in to some sort of regular first team. So we shouldn’t take much from these first two results but hopefully like last year things will be looking better once the season eventually starts for real.10 August 2016 at 10:13 pm #149901The transfer deadline for august IMO should be august 1st. Still gives teams time even in the FL’s to assemble a squad.
