Just sent the below to Ed Jones at Latics, won’t hold my breath for a response.
Dear Ed
Being a supporter since the mid 1960’s and having followed the Latics through our none league and football league days to where we are now in the Premier League, the one thing I have always had is a pride in my club. We have had players, too many to mention them all, but here goes for those most noteworthy, Ian Gillibrand, Tommy Gore, Peter Houghton,Kevin Langley, Harry Lyon, David Lowe, Colin Methven, Graham Jones and more lately Arjan De Zeeuw, Jimmy Bullard and Jason Roberts, all players to make you proud to be a “Latic”.
Today I am ashamed to be associated with Wigan Athletic and will vow never ever to purchase another season ticket, unless action is taken against Antolin Alcaraz for his despicable act of petulance at Wolverhampton on Sunday. I would like to think that as supporters we should expect statements from Mr Whelan and Mr Martinez as to what action will be taken to ensure this sorry bunch of so called players start to show some pride in playing for Wigan Athletic and even if we do get relegated, at least give us, the paying public something once again to make us proud.
8 November 2011 at 4:44 pm #73886You’ve sent this to Ed Jones, the Head of Media?
OK – humour me because you’ve lost me on this one. Why have you sent it to the Head of Media? What do you expect him to do with it??
8 November 2011 at 5:13 pm #73888He probably does not expect anything to come of it. Cant you see its just people in despair at how far Whelan and co have let this go. Apart from a few on here who genuinely have an ‘attraction’ to martinez, most want him to go.
I hope he gets a win against Blackburn, i just cant see it with the players carrying on the way they are, and their constant statements to the media about how the season starts now etc and other bobby drivel. Just accept its the way it is, we cant change it. Whelan can and wont, so its just one of those things that will remain.
8 November 2011 at 5:15 pm #73889I would have thought that was pretty obvious !!, it’s something called a forward button and then a discussion at a certain level. Anyhow, as I stated, I don’t expect anything to come of it, but it’s made me feel somewhat better.

To be honest, that’s probably one of the less offensive and nonsensical messages that the club receives in one form or another.
Either way, I wouldn’t expect a response to be forthcoming.

Only my honest opinion but that (“I wil vow never again to purchase another season ticket unless action is taken against Antolin Alcaraz”) is a complete & total over-reaction.
It was disgusting & deserves to be punished by both the FA & the club but hardly warrants the sort of holier than thou response from many to it. The club will no doubt fine & condemn him but even if they don’t so what? At the moment there are far more important things to worry aboutYou mention Kevin Langley as someone who made youproud to be a Latic. During an away game at Doncaster in the 93/94 season he told the Latics faithful to “Go & f**k off” during a 3-1 defeat. That made me reet proud that did!!

That made me reet proud that did!!to be fair, Langley aimed that at my mate Neil, who had just told him to “fook off and play for someone else” or words to that effect.
10 November 2011 at 1:06 pm #74047In his defence he was getting a fair bit of stick but as players they aren’t supposed to react – although looking back my thinking is if you don’t wanna get sworn at don’t swear at them in the first place.
In Alcaraz’s defence, & there was no excuse for what he did, he was getting stick (shouting in his face & aggressive posturing) of several players for diving
IMO neither of em should have reacted the way they did
