Have followed the Tics since 1968, and have to say that yesterday felt like the lowest of the low. Okay, in the distant past we’ve had pretty tough times but then again our expectations weren’t too great. Now we have a team of pretty decent players that should be able to hold their own in the Championship, let alone challenge for promotion; and none of them ( Boycey apart ) wouldn’t feature in my all time Latics squad !

Think about all the up’s we have seen LHL, been one hell of a ride and if we have to go down further it’s only so we have a bigger hill to climb to get back up. We have to get back to doing it the Latics way and sooner or later we will. None of us would swap s thing would we?.

I know what you mean about the all time Latics best or favourite 11 and to compete at all in this league we should have at least half a dozen or so players who would get in Paul Jewels squad that won the third division. That is squad and not starting 11. I don’t think there is one. Sad but this is where we are now. Selling players and replacing with journeymen/below average players to balance the books will always result in this. Remember Kenyon continuously selling off the assets to do the same. Surely though those Kenyon years must have been worse than now.

something i have been saying for years selling players has got us where we are now
        in the shyte
but also by not generating money we would be in the shyte
so basically we would be in shyte anyway
problem is we will end up with a ground too big for us we will need one like that in leigh
if only we had tried to keep the cream and made a fight of the prem league
instead of selling and bringing in poorer replacements
        non league here we come

        Just like Portsmouth did.

I originally thought we had one of the best squads in the Division, I’ve now changed my opinion on that. It’s a squad made up of “good players” and not 1 game changer amongst them.

Pay them on performance and by Christmas Day they’d all be driving Nissan Micra’s dressed in their George jacket n slacks. They must quietly pish themselves when the put their debit cards in the hole in the wall

Makes you wonder if all the self inflicted bad publicity we’re getting at moment is having an affect on the players.

And I don’t buy into the “he’s a professional footballer on thousands of pounds a week so should be playing to the best of his abilities, regardless” hypotheses either.
