By far, my favourite band. Have been since I discovered them a few years ago.
Really underrated, I think. Still going in the States, but obviously a very different line up to the original, that was decimated in the 1977 plane crash.

:lol:3 November 2009 at 3:17 pm #11960Never heard of Lynyrd Skynyrd? Christ! Don’t know what you’re missing!
Were out in the 1970’s, and played support to ‘The Who’ on their Quadraphenia tour.
Absolutely quality band, until a few of them were killed when their plane crashed in October 1977. (Including Ronnie Van Zandt, the frontman)
Check these out:

(For some great guitar, check it out at 5 mins 20 seconds-ish)Great, great, band.
4 November 2009 at 3:18 am #12009Never really been into the Southern rock scene apart from maybe Molly Hatchet back in the day. Free bird will always be a timeless rock classic anthem but apart from that track there is too much deep south influence for me ! Hey, each to their own though eh !
5 November 2009 at 1:30 pm #12137I was reading an article a few years back about one of skynard’s first uk shows, anyway the band used to enjoy the pop and have a punch up with anybody that was up for it or not. After a show in london they where in their hotel bar enjoying the ale when several short haired well dressed young fellas walked in with their girlfriends. The band decided to have some fun with the young men and marched over to smash their faces in, unfortunately nobody told the band in was the Metropolitan police boxing team that was their intended victims, To cut a long story short the rednecks got beat to a pulp and never picked a fight in the UK again!
