Carson
Boyce Ramis McCann
Perch McArthur Gomez McEachran Crainey
McManaman Fortune
I’m reluctant to name a Man of the Match!
The first half was a wonderfully disciplined team performance. It worked because every player fulfilled his role.
City showed a little more enterprise after their triple substitution. Wigan too made substitutions, but were not weakened and carried on in very much the same style.
They were tight enough to deny City a second goal and good enough to win.
Waghorn, Tunnicliffe, Kiernan were all cup-tied, but will be available to play Wednesday on…Wednesday.

10 March 2014 at 2:13 am #128389Boyce had a wonderful game.
He and Ramis still looked like Premier League players even against City’s famed forwards.
10 March 2014 at 6:26 pm #128441For me Boyce is probably the best player ever to play for Wigan Athletic, , , This summer it will be 8 years a Wigan player never playing less that 25 games a season for us.
And at 34 years of age he still held his own on Sunday up against some of the best players in Europe.
When he retires DW should build him a retirement bungalow next to his pad and free use of the jet.10 March 2014 at 6:34 pm #128442An impressive six-pack he’s sporting there too is Emmerson.
10 March 2014 at 7:13 pm #128444As has been said, to a man, it was a remarkable performance yesterday. All 10 out of 10s except Fortune who has a full 2 points deducted for not passing to Maclean to put us 3-1 up.
10 March 2014 at 7:44 pm #128445If you were feeling generous, you could restore those two points to Fortune for winning the penalty.
10 March 2014 at 7:52 pm #128446Had he won the penalty after his faux pas/name in neon lights/red mist moment, I would have raised it to 8.5
