Both say they are excited about the possibility of a few signings that will/may be completed before the end of January. One of which is a striker believed to be Aduriz as reports suggest Roberto is currently in Spain finalising a deal for the striker.
Whelan has said Roberto has got a few exciting signings lined up but priority is with a striker (Aduriz if reports are correct). I am excited myself as I think we could possibly see a new winger (maybe Moses) + a new central mid to play off the strikers (maybe Britton) + Aduriz which looks to be a done deal + possibly Kris Boyd from Rangers although it’s gone quite quiet on that front.
It’s all exciting stuff!

Good post mystic meg. Would love to see that Aduriz come here, not seen much of him (few spanish league games and youtube) but it’s a striker nontheless. Cant agree with where you say ‘maybe moses’ as I think thats way out of our reach. You mention Britton but we dont want another swansea player because of what has happened with Gomez and Scotland (though I do think Gomez is/will be good enough). And as the other guy said before, Were not getting Boyd which also is probably be a good thing.

is that the same whelan and martinez who said “cattermole is going nowhere”
23 January 2010 at 2:39 am #19277Martinez dosn’t really care if Whelan can’t fund enough money through transfers to build another massive DW Sports store but, that’s the Cattermole story, £3million is massive for Whelan even though the players that are brought in use up more of that and are crap (eg.Scotland & Gomez). The coaching staff at Wigan have to pay £2 for there dinner because Whelan thinks he’s losing money because of some staff having there dinner at the Training Ground when the club is playing away. Whelan is a joke.
23 January 2010 at 2:55 am #19283I dont agree with everything he says/does but to come out with that comment is crazy…can people not see the bigger picture with Whelan, that instead of having a very good chance of making it through to the FA Cup 5th round tomorrow and enjoying our 5th Premier League season, without Whelan we would have been in the Conference North or something and probably be playing someone like Fleetwood Town (no disrepect) tomorrow.

The Boyd deal was laid to rest when we signed Caldwell.

Lets get real!
Premier League for 5 years and a trip to a major cup final or extinction?
It would have happened believe me because the club was on its @rse before he arrived-crowds at 1800 if we were lucky. Two generations of youngsters now support Latics and the club will be strong for years to come because of this. -
