Roberto Martinez wants to add more youngsters to his Wigan squad in time for their next Premier League campaign.
It will be business as usual for the Latics boss once their final league game against Chelseais over on Sunday as he looks to strengthen at the DW Stadium immediately.
The Spaniard also maintains his side will give everything they have in order to hinder the Blues’ title challenge when they face them at Stamford Bridge.
“We do not have to sell, or to balance the books. But even Manchester United could not say no to the fee for Cristiano Ronaldo,” said Martinez.
“We would not be able to stop a player going if there were really big offers, but I do not have to sell or want to sell.”Having brought in impressive youngster Victor Moses from cash-strapped Crystal Palace in January, Martinez will be hoping future signings will possess the same calibre as the 19-year-old has shown in his promising early Premier League career.
Appetite
“We have to create a real appetite for people to come here,” said the 36-year-old.
“Some are attracted by the way we play and want to be part of Wigan.
“Victor Moses came here despite a lot of interest from other Premier League clubs and that is important for us. He chose to come here despite the options.
“We have to keep doing that, we must show we are an attractive place for players to come to and improve their careers.”
Wigan will be without injured trio Titus Bramble, Chris Kirkland and Marcelo Moreno for Sunday’s trip to the league leaders.

Victor Moses came to Wigan Athletic because we were the only Premier league team to put in a bid for him

And a good signing he will prove to be, I have no doubt. I bet he was happy to be spared that debacle yesterday.
