This day in 2005 was the day that Wigan Athletic secured their place in the top flight of English football for the first time in their history. It came in a tremendous 3-1 victory against Reading at the JJB Stadium in front of 19,662 fans, with Lee McCulloch, Jason Roberts and Nathan Ellington grabbing the goals.
