many people on here and other latics message boards have /are accusing him of not being interested or not trying and wanting out of the club, including myself, but i have altered my view of him,and was wondering does anyone agree,
basically i think he is rubbish,he had one good season under bruce and i think that led us to believe he was of some quality,a very poor blackpool side turned him inside out yesterday, granted they did it to the rest of the team anyway, but figueroa is a senior member of the team with nearly 2 years of premiership games under his belt,he never makes a tackle, he resorted to hoofing the ball every time touched it yesterday, he lost the wing wonder that is ormerod time and time again, and harewood went past him at will.
is that not the real reason he is still with us.
15 August 2010 at 1:04 pm #42655If you watched Figueroa in the world cup you would have seen he was a decent player. I would agree he looked poor yestrday, but maybe fitness was the issue? He also had no winger to protect him and no options in midfield to pass to.
Problem is we dont have an option.
15 August 2010 at 3:35 pm #42687if you think this guy is a decent player then you need talking to.no positional sense, cost us 6 points in 1 week last season by not picking his man up,doesnt like putting his foot in and looked less interested than i did yesterday.why we gave him an improved contract i`ll never know.gouhouri i thought also looked poor as did alcaraz(although its his first game so benefit of the doubt etc).the fact is the defence looks no where near good enough, even in pre season.also kirklands best days are behind him,not commanding enough,at fault for 2 goals today i thought, lets give al habsi a go,cant get much worse can it?
15 August 2010 at 4:51 pm #42699Edinburgh during the world cup Figueroa not once played at left back maybe the hondurans have realised that he’s better at centre half. I have to agree with loudmouth I think he’s very poor and he would struggle in this position in the championship.
15 August 2010 at 7:33 pm #42714I’ve never thought of him as anything better than ordinary, at best. He’s always been a bit of a liability at full-back.
Ask AppleyBridgeLatic what he thinks! :D

to be honest griff he has had me fooled -i thought his poor showing last season was down to petulance, and skulking after a big payday move, but i now know this is probably not the case, he is not even as you suggest – “ordinary”, he is not that good, that is the real reason bruce has chosen not to buy him.
only hope stoke still rate him and come in with a bid.
15 August 2010 at 10:10 pm #42725I think thats what I was saying, he obviously is a decent player at centre back, so we should have been playing him there. Agree at full back he has cost us.
I also think the back four have little protection, which doesnt help.

15 August 2010 at 10:15 pm #42729problem is will we get rid now, what choice do we have to play there… Come on Bob make the changes.
15 August 2010 at 10:44 pm #42735problem is will we get rid now, what choice do we have to play there… Come on Bob make the changes.i and many people hope “bob” won’t get the chance to make any more changes,he has brought in enough dross not to be trusted further on that score.
and the only “changes” on “bobs” horizon involve him and his inferior backroom staff.
16 August 2010 at 12:42 am #42758How can a “top-class” footballer be so exclusively one-footed.
Even the simplest short pass under no pressure he had to make left-footed.
