I know Fat Spam has been circling Figroll like a vulture all season but could his recent injury now put him in a position where it would be in his best interests to sign a new contract with us?
30 April 2013 at 4:14 pm #111569dont think he will sign again salford even with the injury i think the player knows where his future lies
and i think we know where30 April 2013 at 4:26 pm #111576I know Fat Spam has been circling Figroll like a vulture all season but could his recent injury now put him in a position where it would be in his best interests to sign a new contract with us?If early indications are to be believed then his injury is likely to sideline him for a matter of weeks. It’s not career threatening & it won’t be keeping him from playing for months on end so he’s likely to be able to play again before his contract expries at the end of June
Therefore its not likely to make any difference as to where his own personal best interest lie (career wise)30 April 2013 at 9:39 pm #111634Anonymous

Figueroa along with Caldwell and Martinez’s dogmatic disregard to acknowledge and prioritise our
defensive frailties is the main reasons we are on the verge of relegation.Stoke City are by far the worst team in the premier league, they are the least entertaining, lowest scorers and most unskillful of all 20 teams, but they will survive because they know how to organise their defence and keep clean sheets.
Any decent team is built on solid foundations without that base you are dead in the water and Martinez has failed WAFC by not getting that right in his time with us, yes we all love the great pass and move game he has given us but defence has been largely been ignored to our peril.

Bit harsh really considering we lost Lopez, Ramis, Golobart and Alcaraz twice and now fig’s when they were all playing well.
30 April 2013 at 10:07 pm #111638The defence has been missing Ramis, Alcaraz and Caldwell, and now Figueroa is out. That may have something to do with it.
Caldwell should be fit to return on Saturday, and Watson too. Lopez should also be fit, and Golobart wil be soon.
It’s much closer than anyone would have liked, but we can still escape.
30 April 2013 at 10:55 pm #111649Hmmmm after reflecting on the above comments I have another theory into the thinking of Martinez behind Figgers and a new contract.
As his contract was under the old regime I would imagine he was closer to the top of the earners ladder.
If Martinez is thinking let him go and pull someone in that is the caliber of Ramis for less money then he has my backing completely.
I hope “dogmatic” was an intended pun on your behalf Hakey.

you heard owt on those lines salford ?You are asking us to believe, you managed to meet “some locals” in “Mallorca” while you was on holiday who happened to not only know the details of Ramis’s contract but bumped into a Wiganer to discuss those details.
My god I wonder what odds a bookie would give on that scenario happening in the REAL world.

I don’t doubt for one minute that Ramis may have a get out clause written into his contract.
Call me cynical if you like, but what I do doubt is some random Wiganer and a couple of bar proppers in the Balearic Islands know any different to all of us.1 May 2013 at 1:59 am #111724it will be true, I went to The Maldives last year and got friendly with a Muslin waiter.
His mate, who was also a muslin had been to Mallorca for a holiday. On his hols he met a muslim on the beach who was a friend of our goalie, who is also a muslim, who told him that Ali was earning good dosh in Wigin.1 May 2013 at 2:01 am #111727Still hope it is not true any way.
We will be playing 1 at the back next season at this rate.
And it will be Caldwell :(
1 May 2013 at 2:04 am #111731You mean our player of the season last year, voted for by the fans, fickle or what?
Did you vote for him?
TFG
