A big night for James McCarthy tonight. Hopefully he finally proves to Trapatoni he is the best option Ireland has in midfield. In my opinion he is far more talented than Keith Andrews, Glen Whelan and Darren Gibson. I heard him interviewed on Irish radio yesterday. He seems like a genuine fella who has had a tough summer with his Da’s illness.
‘Ooooh, Trapatoni. He used to be Italian but he’s Irish now’
I don’t Gibson, but the other two hardly set the world alight. The biggest fear however, is that he’ll try and make a name for himself and get an injury in the process – just in time for the start of the domestic season.
