Why does Mr Whelan feel the need to publicly announce he is having a pow wow with Robbie today when in his own words “He has done a great job for the club “?Hope one the “cards he puts on the table ” is Robbies P45 .
5 March 2012 at 2:56 pm #82522Public humiliation and not very good people skills ! He could have just said ” Can I have a word with you in my office Monday morning ” I will be surprised if he sacks him or even asks for his resignation but he may give him a 3or 4 match deadline to improve shit !
5 March 2012 at 3:06 pm #82524Good point.Mind you 3 or 4 matches is 3 or 4 too many.
5 March 2012 at 3:26 pm #82529Good point.Mind you 3 or 4 matches is 3 or 4 too many.In my view the time is not right for a sacking now, in my opinion he should have been relieved of his duties before the transfer window ( On the back of that 8 or was it 9 losses on the bounce !) Perhaps he should tell him that if we go down you are sacked now that could have a desired effect because by keep telling someone that their job is safe come what may just encourages complacency in my book ! He needs a good talking to and needs to leave that office with a flea in his ear, he then needs to go and take it out on the slackers we have in our midst !! B)
5 March 2012 at 3:48 pm #82532Thankfully Whelan is a wise enough operator to realise that sacking a manager at this stage would be suicidal. Look at Wolves for your proof.
Phil , sack him in another 3 or 4 games , yea we’ll have them queueing up to take over then !!
Folk on here have been asking why has Whelan not spoken out about our predicament , well now he has. But luckily he will do it in a sensible , thoughtful way that will be the best for the club. A behind closed doors kick up the arse or a public rallying call maybe , but p45 Mr Brownbill – don’t be so ridiculous.

5 March 2012 at 4:20 pm #82538Quite why Whelan has gone public with this is beyond me. Whatever your opinion of Martinez I fail to see how criticising the manager’s team selection serves any useful purpose or helps the club’s current predicament in any way. Are we now to assume that every team put out until the end of the season has been picked by Whelan?
Talk about shooting yourself in the foot!
5 March 2012 at 4:23 pm #82539And if he had had a quiet word then everyone on here (bar a few) would be saying that he was burying his head in the sand, can’t he see there are problems etc etc.
He’s flagging up that he isn’t happy (maybe to us, the supporters) with the way we played, and is doing something about it. But he’s prefacing it that sacking the manager now at this point in the season will achieve nothing.
5 March 2012 at 4:33 pm #82540But he didn’t have to criticise the team selection, just say he was not happy with the performance and would be having words with Martinez to determine how things can be improved.
In my opinion he’s made Bobby’s position untenable.

I might be wrong, but I suspect this “pow-wow” will turn out to be the dampest of squibs.

I’m just glad he refused Hall’s offer of a sing-song this time
