I was at the game on sunday and therefore did not see the coverage on sky sports. When i got back from the game, my girlfriend said that in the build up Paul Merson said we don’t deserve a football team in the premier league and basically belittled our club. I just wanted to know if anyone heard what he actually said?
Doesn’t it feel great when we shut idiots up like Merson and Collymore and it makes wins like on sunday all the more special.
I watched some of it back when i got home – including the build up.
It was along the lines of –
“They try to play football, the problem is they just arent very good”
“It’s all well and good Martinez trying to play good football like he did at Swansea, but that was in a lesser league”
etc etc
Richard Keys stepped in at one point to try to dampen his criticism by suggesting we play football “the right way, and that should be admired, surely?” but Merson then went onto a rant of how West Brom etc have tried to do the same and failed and so would we.

I know Griff, but it bothers me as we are never judged on how we play but of who we are and the old chestnut about our crowds. By the way Griff were you on about Collymore or Merson in your very accurate statement :lol:

Had it been Collymore it would have been a thick, wife-beating, dogging old drunk – don’t think Collymore is particularly skint.

When Richard Keys mentioned about us trying to play football the right way, Andy Gray said “well obviously they are not as good as Arsenal” at which point Merson said “They are not as good as anybody”
The wife text me at the game to say I wouldn’t be happy at what Merson had said when I watched the replay. When I got in there was a wire mesh frame round the telly and all the orniments had been removed from the living room. :evil:

What a journey!What a cheeky tw@t, i hate him and Collymore. If they were ever on the panel together I think I’d cry, the sh1te that’d come out of there mouths would be unbelievable and very frustrating! Don’t get me started on Richard Keys, he gets payed to pretend he knows about football and state the bleeding obvious!
This Paul Merson you speak of, as a manager he’s done what? Yet he sits there criticising plenty of managers throughout the season
