15 years ago today, we tragically lost Michael Millett in a car crash. 21st September, 1995.
It happened the day before his 18th birthday. He would have been 33 tomorrow.
Nobody knows how his career would have panned out, but if he was as good as they said he was, surely he would have been sold on to a bigger club, with us being a lower league club then.I was very dissappointed that there was nothing in Sunday’s programme about it. Especially considering we now have people at the club who were here with him, such as his team-mate Roberto, and his then manager, Graham Barrow. Poor show by the club, in my opinion.

I didnt realise I had seen him play away at Walsall. But the lad was a good un, he could have been part of that Whelan revolution with Bob and the amigos..
I Played against him several times when we were kids and he was playing for Garswood United, remember one game we were winning 2 nil at HT, he moved into midfield from centre back and they won 3 2 won it more or less on his own. He wernt a bad un!
The only time I can remember him making an appearance was in a game at Rochdale the back end of the 94/95 season where i think he came on as sub
Don’t recall him particularly standing out but remember a bit of a buzz amongst those who were there when he came on coz we’d all heard he was destined for the top
Think the club was in a bit of shock for a while after that
Hard to believe that was 15 years ago – is the young/youth team player of the season award still named in his honour?

But of course, Latics were only formed in 2005, weren’t they? :roll:
