Can I just say that I witnessed the incident where James got cut up and I can confirm that Jame’s choice of transport on the day in question was a Mongoose bicycle !
27 November 2010 at 11:32 pm #51810it is a disgrace that he is still on our books as a player. He was never good enough back in the day
The only disgrace is that comment. Never good enough back in the day? Please provide your supporting evidence.
I’ll provide mine in his favour.
Everytime he was called upon he never let us down. His form kept John Filan out of the starting 11 in our first season in the premiership. His performance against Arsenal at Highbury in the semi finals arguably kept us in the game to help us reach our first major final in our history. He is by all accounts a good guy and a positve influence around the dressing room.
Show alittle bit of respect.
My supporting evidence is that he was on the books at United but never made the grade there. No disgrace I hear you say. But he then played all his career in the bottom two divisions most notably at Rotherham till we signed him. How much evidence do you need?
you must never have seen latics ever play rotherham then because every time i saw us pollit was by far the best player they had -he always had a brilliant game against us and all the latics fans who knew hi were made up when he was signed as a back up to filan by paul jewell.
but the one thing that blows yor theory out of the water is the carling cup semi final at arsenal-
that was the best performance by a latics keeper EVER,
he was the person responsible for something we probably will never ever see again -an appearance in a major cup final.27 November 2010 at 11:39 pm #51811Anonymous
Agreed although Roy Tunks did get us through to the freight rover thingy at Mansfield which I thought at the time was brilliant
28 November 2010 at 12:00 am #51813I think your thick show some respectI think you should come up with a decent arguement instead of getting personal you c*ck.
28 November 2010 at 12:05 am #51815He did have great games for us LMB Arsenal being his stand out game but he played all his career in the bottom two divisions. So obviously no one in the top two divisions thought he was good enough either.

I cant actually remember if I was in my old car or my new car at this point.. But I have never had a Mongoose bicycle!!.. Wanted one.. But got 2 Barracuda ones instead!
29 November 2010 at 1:11 am #51889…he then played all his career in the bottom two divisions most notably at Rotherham till we signed himHe played for Rotherham in the Championship before signing for Wigan, and last time I checked, that is one of the TOP two divisions. Pollitt was outstanding at Rotherham, so you either watch no other football other than Wigan, or have been watching only since 2005.

Seeing that no one is in agreement with you it is indeed a fact that you are the prize c*ck

I have been watching Wigan since Non League and went to Rotherham more than I care to remember. Pollit was outstanding at Rotherham but should he still be on the books as a player for a Premier League team.
IMO no.
6 January 2011 at 11:20 am #54807This deserves to be bumped back up i think.
Any Comment Hindley?
Well done Mike Pollitt.
6 January 2011 at 12:15 pm #54810Been a good goalie in his time, and is still doing a decent job as a back up keeper, notably last night.
But at 38, he’s too old now, and the way things are with Kirkland, we are going to have to sign Al Habsi or somebody else, because when Pollitt does retire, we’ll be very short in the keepers department.
Never let us down, and always done his best for us. Respect. And the only member of the Jewell squad to be still here.

6 January 2011 at 9:47 pm #54868For fook sake what do people want? In todays climate of mercinary players who dont give a flier bout anything else but themselves Mike Pollit stands out. Has he ever moaned or made demands? He has always behaved as you would expect a reserve keeper to. How many clubs can say that they have a brilliant back up goalie eh? I think we been blessed in that respect and tho Polly may not be the best keeper in the world he is certainly one of the best clubmen this team has ever had. The lad has done what he was paid to do and just gets on with it to the best of his ability. Mike Pollit goes down as a true Tic in my eyes

Did very well in his brief role as substitute last night but I still don’t think he should be on the playing staff.

Do you :o :o :o
I made the original post based on his ability to play in the Premier League at 38 not on him being an all round great guy.
