Former player meets new player:
http://www.caughtoffside.com/2010/01/14 … -caldwell/
Do you recognise him? If you don’t know who he is, you’ve either been a fan for just the last four years, or you have cataracts.
He was signed relatively cheaply, was a former international, arrived with a lot of expectation, but found it hard to adapt to the pace of the English game and was largely disappointing.
Save this comment, revisit it in twelve months and hope it doesn’t apply to the both of them.

If only he’d have buried that chance late on in our Premiership debut
14 January 2010 at 4:59 pm #18285He did have one or two half decent games for us and scored a couple of times. He wasn’t up to the Premiership physically.
That chance against Chelsea was a belter though wasn’t it?
14 January 2010 at 5:03 pm #182861st season if emory serves me right, vs Bolton away, had a good un, and now im out of good memories of him :)
14 January 2010 at 5:04 pm #18287It cant be who I am thinking of as by the looks of the picture, he has mud on his socks….
the quote about this lad is “yah, Jewell has bought him for next season when we get into the Championship”
…..and apart from Stephan Bidstrup – wasn’t he meant to be the best end to end player from Scandinavia?
14 January 2010 at 5:09 pm #18288Who could forget Bidstrup. He was one of Rioch’s wasn’t he?
Takes me back to the days of Jeffrey Peron!
14 January 2010 at 5:11 pm #18290Talking of the Scandies, I wish I’d seen more of Per Frandsen.
14 January 2010 at 5:19 pm #18295Just realised that if you hover your mouse over the picture it tells you what the game is and who the two players are.
So, here’s a photo of Andreas Johansson and Gary Caldwell. Can you tell me the names of the two players in the photo?
14 January 2010 at 5:20 pm #18296Sat next to him in the west stand hostility section just after he’d signed, I think. Thought he was a druggie in a baggy suit; I’ve never seen anyone so thin, I nearly offered him the crust off my pie. But, of course, I didn’t.
Talented lad though, just slower than a tax rebate.
14 January 2010 at 5:39 pm #18301Scored 2 goals away at Spurs in our 1st season to earn a 2-2 draw. We were leading twice in the game and Mido scored for Spurs.
I was in the Spurs end opposite away fans and it was the the week before the Carling Cup Final vs Utd.
14 January 2010 at 5:48 pm #18302He was very skilful, but always looked to me like he was a bit unsure as to what was actually going on.
I always imagined him communicating with Jewell by hidden mike: ‘You want me to run now, yes? Kick it where? To that man over there, okay? Hoopla, I think I’ve just scored. That is okay, no?’
14 January 2010 at 8:01 pm #18311I was with truelatic you know when we played Goole away.
14 January 2010 at 8:40 pm #18312Think his appearance in the final game at Highbury was worthy of note.
Come on as sub as Arsenal have a corner, trot into area, as corner comes over elbow opponent, Uriah Rennie sends him off. Classic! I think he lasted 16 seconds.

Well, let’s be fair – he did have a hard-man image to maintain
14 January 2010 at 11:24 pm #18318didn’t he score a winner for us at bowton
