Next season will see the beginning of a new Latics book. Written by a fan it will follow Latics all the way from Pre-season to the final game of the season. The book will explore the thoughts and feelings of a Latics fan and also match day experiences. This will be coupled with match reports and pictures from all games attended. A complete book by the fan for the fans.
The book will give fans who can’t make every match an insight into the rollercoaster of emotions a Latics fan travels on and also the feelings of others who travel.
Hopefully the book will contain chapters from other events such as Q&A with Roberto Martinez, Dinner Events, Player of the Year and Wigan Athletic Supporters Club events. Everything Wigan Athletic will be covered!
Before the project begins it would be helpful for any thoughts on this idea and if this is something which would be read by Latics fans.
The title is something which is still to be decided upon.

Yes i am.
Im just interested in what people think. Alot of my work can be found on here. Items include match reports, reviews and articles on Latics events.
2 June 2010 at 3:23 pm #35368Its a great idea, but be careful as it has been done before.
The last one by Vaughnie and Jimmy was exceptionally good.
It might not be a bad idea to get hold of a copy just to see what you are up against.
Keep us posted, I’m sure plenty of ideas will be posted on here should you need any inspiration.
Good luck.2 June 2010 at 3:28 pm #35369Anonymous

Good luck.Horc, what is the book called by Vaughnie? Not lived in Wigan for a while like, but i’ve read Jimmy’s effort.
Good luck Posh Tic.

Shamefully, I get the titles of Jimmy’s books mixed up without the ability to turn round and look at them on my bookcase. You’ll find them on Mudhuts Media easily enough.

Is your 2nd book still in embryonic stage Griff, or do we have legs and arms yet?2 June 2010 at 6:12 pm #35396You should ask for this to be put on the Club Official Website or in the matchday programme, if it’s any good.
2 June 2010 at 6:57 pm #35409My tip would be to break up the text with pictures / premiership tables, maybe quotes etc as although other footy books are good reads, they may be dry.

Still W.I.P. and hopefully I will finish it. There are a couple of unrelated projects currently getting in the way but I’m aiming for a September/October finish and publication.
I wouldn’t say it’s got arms and legs yet; a very small willy, at a push. Story of my life :(

Good-oh. Will request another progress update later in the summer.
Was thinking of writing a book myself entitled ‘Apostrophe’s and their misuse in the modern English language’.
Should be able to post snippets on here and get a bite or two.
(There is actually a real book in a similar vein called ‘Eats, Shoots & Leaves’. Punctuation geekery at its finest)
