Lee Nicholls, Wigan Athletic’s Young Player of the Season, has been called-up to England’s provisional 23-man squad for a training camp ahead of the 2010 UEFA European Under-19 Championships next month.
The squad will be whittled down to 18 players before the tournament gets underway in France on 12th July, with those not making the final 18 being kept on standby.
Fantastic way to build this lad’s confidence simply because Kingson isn’t with us anymore and he could possibly play Cup games for us next season!
Someone on here who goes to Reserve games (a lot) says Lee’s odds on to be Wigan’s next number 1 keeper if he keeps working hard.
Another i’ve been told about is St.Helens boy Timmy Chow (currently in Youth Team.)
For everyone who’s going to any of our pre-season games where a Wigan XI will play, you will see Lee Nicholls in action. I bet there both so happy.
Lets hope Latics and a few other clubs take on board our performance at the world cup, and give the likes of him a chance rather than signing dodgy foreign keepers.
We’ve got Pollitt who can be a No. 3 backup. If this lad is any good, show some faith and make him no. 2 to Kirkland.

Kingson has left the club completely now. His contract has expired and he won’t sign another one with us, that’s for certain.
