Wigan’s loanee goalkeeper Ali Al Habsi claims people from his home country of Oman are becoming crazy about Latics.
Despite being on the books at Bolton, it is with Wigan that Al Habsi is finally being able to show his quality.
Al Habsi told the Wigan Observer: “The people of Oman are already big Wigan Athletic supporters.
“Hundreds of thousands more people are now following the club – not just in Oman but in the other gulf countries.
“People over here may not realise how big Wigan Athletic are over in Oman, but I can assure you they are.”
Which means last Saturday’s victory over Spurs – in which Al Habsi was named man of the match – would have gone down particularly well.
“The people back home will have enjoyed this win as well,” smiled the big goalkeeper.
“After losing the first two games of the season, we were under big pressure but we responded.”

I have been getting several emils from Oman, one of them says they have booked hospitality for one of the games, coming over especially to see him play.

Im working in Muscat at the minute. I wouldnt say they are latics bonkers, but i have seen two latics tops on two local kids this week. Its like Dubai was 10 years ago.
