Since we’re taking 3750 to City tomorrow, does anyone know, say in the last 10 years the highest away followings we’ve had? Not including the finals that is.

Our following depends upon our allocation of tickets as well as the enthusiasm of our fans.

We could have taken more fans to the Etihad tomorrow. We were offered 6,000 tickets.

The journey takes half an hour. It’s 20 minutes walk from Piccadilly to the Etihad.

You can take a Metrolink tram from underneath Piccadilly station. But the trams can already be full when they arrive. You may have to wait some time.

I think the 3000 to blackburn when we relegated them is our highest in the last 10 years. Think we came close to it at bolton

trains will be running tomorrow (Sunday) from Wallgate at;

12.18 to Manchester Oxford Road arrive 13.00
12.36 to Manchester Piccadilly arrive 13.19

13.18 to Manchester Oxford Road arrive 14.00
13.36 to Manchester Piccadilly arrive 14.19

14.18 to Manchester Oxford Road arrive 15.00
14.36 to Manchester Piccadilly arrive 15.19

If not, then there are trains from North Western to Piccadilly.

I think there was a similar following at Huddersfield in our Division 2 promotion season.

I don’t think there was an official record of the away following that day but the generally reported turn out was about 20,000.

I went both games , am I right in thinking the Huddersfield away they let you pay on the day ?. I seem to remember the back of the stand full and lots couldn’t even see the game.

As for the Everton, the word sardines comes to mind. As a young lad the one thing I remember about the Everton game was running back to the coaches full pelt hearing ” KILL THE F**KIN WOOLEY BACCCCKS !!” while repeatedly having my coccyx kicked for the best part of 1/2 a mile only to find my coach had left.
