A traditional football club are in serious trouble at the moment. Burdened with debt and on the verge of extinction. I feel our thoughts and best wishes should be with the fans and supporters of Chester City FC.
When we see the money that as been passed through and squandered by Portsmouth FC by signing players and paying wages they couldnt afford and think what just a small fraction of that money would have done to help Chester it makes me realise how mixed up this football thing is these days.
Who gets all the press and sympathy today. Of course Pompey.
Good luck Chester City. Lets hope you can escape folding up on the 10th 0f March.
Pompey… well you have created your own destiny with your own mismanaged greed.26 February 2010 at 5:02 pm #24344Both clubs have been “mismanged” by there owners.
Why should we have sympathy for one club and not the other?
26 February 2010 at 5:08 pm #24345Tickles me when people use the term ‘traditional club’, What exactly does one consist of, Old stadium?, Over 100 years old?, Are we one?. Okay MK Dons are not one whatever the criteria but could someone please let me know because im dumbfounded by it. :D

Just wondering where we stand on that measure. My understanding was that they lived beyond their means for a lot of years because Gaydamark said he would bankroll them. That was why the accountants never rang the alarm bells earlier.
Just wondering where we’d be if Whelan fell under a pie van tomorrow and our safety net disappeared, and we get relegated.

Pompey… well you have created your own destiny with your own mismanaged greed.I actually thought the fans now want Chester City wound up so they can rebuild with a “phoenix club”.
So hoping they avoid folding up goes against what the true fans want.
27 February 2010 at 1:06 am #24407The game is rotten to the core at this level an almighty bubble that has now burst.Very sad that it has happened to a small club with passionate supporters who have always travelled in big numbers.I remember them in old division 4 in the late 70’s and the huge numbers they brought back then.
I hope they sort this out but i fear the worst. :(27 February 2010 at 1:09 am #24408Anonymous
i remember them bringing a couple of thousend for a midweek game i’m sure garswood would remember the date and numbers
27 February 2010 at 11:28 am #24446Does anyone remember the last game of last season when Portsmouth brought huge flags saying “it’s cold down in Southampton -10”. These were obviously stating Southampton were docked 10 points this season.
27 February 2010 at 12:09 pm #24449Pompey have been taking the p*** out of Southhampton for a while, maybe there is such a thing as karma.
