Over the years while following the latics little things stick in your mind and you think about them and have a little smile to yourself. So what things can you think of(nothing todo with the team) mine stood on the sideline when we got promoted against mansfield, marching up wigan after same game singing, running across the cricket pitch and somebody nicking the wickets and then as we marched through the old market hall the same lad waving the wickets above his head. Also my uncle got hit on the back with a brick at springy park when we played wallsal he jumped the fence run on the pitch after this lad caught him in the goal mouth and kicked him full force in the nuts, the lad just lay there my uncle walked casualy back, happy days :D :D
3 December 2009 at 7:36 pm #14431Going ar5e over tit celebrating Paul Rogers equaliser at home to Gillingham in 1999 & snapping all my ankle ligaments. Got strapped in one of them little, dinky, rickety, St John’s chairs on wheels things you see old fella’s who’ve collapsed getting carried out on & carted down the middle of the St Andrew’s side. Whilst being carried from the middle flat bit to the bottom (where the stand ended) Simon Haworth smacked in a goal to put us 2-1 up. I celebrated again & the St John’s fellas dropped me
Spotting the latics team coach on the M6 after a game away at Walsall where John Deehan tried the revolutionary 6 at the back formation. Hastily scribbling “DEEHAN OUT” on my mates t-shirt who then hung out of my friend’s sun roof as we (except the driver) hung out of the other windows flicking him the V’s. David Lee found it funny anyway!!4 December 2009 at 12:40 am #14444i can remember that bloke against Walsall vividly. I’ve never seen owt like it – imagine the papers if he did that now!! It was a mental day and i spent most of it wondering if my black eye would die down before i got home and my mum gave me one to match! They were bleedin nutters!
I always chuckle to myself when i think of THAT game against Reading and one well known wit sat down after having a crafty cig and missing 2 goals, casually asking “have i missed owt?” Comedy timing at it’s finest
4 December 2009 at 2:09 am #14450Mine was at Springfield after a game in about 1998-99, some old guy was walking behind a car parked on the grass outside the ground, the car was stuck in the mud and started revving to get out, well you can guess the rest, his beige pants and jacket, face, glasses the lot got covered in sh@t, i felt sorry for the guy but was howling with laughter, there were other people around laughing aswell, someone out there must remember it too!!!???

Mansfield Away sherpa vans trophey or freight rover doings the sight of hundreds of wiganers jumping of coaches for a pi$$ and numerous toilet rolls thrown at them whilst waiting for a police escort
4 December 2009 at 3:23 am #14453Leek Town, FA Cup away, circa 1993-94.
Having to park miles away, up an hill on a muddy as anything field at Leek hockey club. Slutched up to the nines, it was pitch black, and having to traipse down a big hill to the ground at the bottom.
Dodgy as anything night and a turn out from Stoke City. Kicked off after the match with bricks getting lobbed and a car got turned over, I think.
4 December 2009 at 11:45 am #14459I remember after a game away at Carlisle (may have been a cup game in 97/98 ish) where it kicked off outside afterwards & spilled out into the road stopping all the traffic
One bloke in his car stuck in the traffic decided he would parp his horn to get people to clear off & this old fella (must have been in his late 70’s/early 80’s who used to go to every game with his missus) turned round & brought his walking stick down square on the guys car bonnet, several times, flicked him the V & walked off. The look on the car driver’s face was priceless
Tufty – the thought of us legging it away like naughty school children from that strip club in Oldham always make me chuckle n’all!!!!

4 December 2009 at 7:40 pm #14472Great Thread By The Way…..
North End was a good un at home around the earl 90’s,Sneaked in over the astro turf and legged it into the Shevvy end persued by about 4 stewards. As we legged it into the entrance to the stand all the tics fans were making passages for us to pass through and get lost in the crowd then closing up when we went through. I remember all the chaps wetting themselves all shouting in little pockets of the crowd, they are over here, or over there. It was like a bunch of cat’s after a couple of mice. All the stewards looking like dumbarses with gaunt looks on their faces.
