No chance of finishing top 2 just not good enough .Gilligham and Coventry free scoring,Burton even paying half the game with 10 men still grab their usual 1-0 win against a side that dicked us at home which is promotion form.Winger Jacobs with 7 goals but as usual the no prolific striker issue again raises its head. Jury still out for me on Grigg and Davies is the fitness risk we expected. GC states Grigg is the best striker in this division ,so is his lack of goals the managers fault for not playing to his strength then ??Or are our average midfield not supplying him with scoring opportunities ? Whichever it is the fact we have struggled to perform against most teams in the top 12 tells the story. All about opinions and I hope come May i’m way off the mark but with Wildschut gone and strikers struggling we definitely need to do some January business.
3 January 2016 at 5:25 pm #146480Or stop making changes week in week out and get a settled starting eleven and attacking style of play going Dereck.
I wonder if the afore mentioned three change their sides weekly.3 January 2016 at 5:49 pm #146481Caldwell said he was going to keep a winning side but of late he’s been making plenty changes which as we know from previous seasons doesn’t seem to work.
3 January 2016 at 6:09 pm #146482Caldwell said he was going to keep a winning side but of late he’s been making plenty changes which as we know from previous seasons doesn’t seem to work.“Of late” he kept the same team at Fleetwood that won at Barnsley. I would have kept the same team again if all the players were fully fit, however, I can understand why he made some changes. The players who came on at Fleetwood helped win the game, apart from Hiwula the other two subs who made the impact started yesterday. Chris McCann at left back proved a big mistake in my opinion, the lad who scored for them was unmarked at the far post. If James is fully fit, he should be the first name on the team sheet for me.
Perhaps GC should have made even more changes and played all 3 subs that came on at Fleetwood, he’s on a no win situation here. From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!3 January 2016 at 6:56 pm #146483Was James injured? Surely he can play at left back rather than McCann who is a midfielder. Yes I would go for Yanick as left winger but in reflection over his time here he has made a greater impression when coming on as a sub but maybe that has usualy been at a stage where we have to change the game style anyway. What will we do now on Thursday with a view to not having Yanick. Stick with McCann out of position or return to wing backs. Thursday will be Loves last game so do we play him or not? Could Davies return to support Grigg. Who knows it may be Griggs turn to bench warm and Jordy on his own up top.Surely it wasn’t this complicated when Paul Jewells side pissed this league so why has it got to be now?
3 January 2016 at 7:10 pm #146484With no yanic
1 jussi
2 Daniels 4 Pearce 5 Morgan 3 James
7 Jacobs 6 mcann 8 power 11 kellett
9 Jordi 10 crigg3 January 2016 at 7:27 pm #146485It seems that this is the modern way with football, managers seem to piss about with team selection just for the sake of it.
I suppose squads were smaller in the old days so there weren’t as many players to have to keep happy.
Too much emphasis does appear to be put on picking a team to deal with the opposition instead of letting them worry about us.
A play off position in May would not be a disaster considering the rebuilding that has took place, but considering the standard of football we have seen from the other teams an automatic promotion place should not be beyond us.3 January 2016 at 8:40 pm #146486This is probably as strong a side as we will ever have and if there is no promotion this time we could very much expect a weaker more inexpensive and smaller squad next season. So it is up go the management to push us along to success this time around.
4 January 2016 at 10:49 am #146487Play offs would be a disaster, we’ve rebuilt every year since dropping out the Prem and next year would not be any different.
We have the best squad in Div 1 by a country mile and I think been abit more gun Ho might reap rewards. As for Grigg ? I would have got 15 goals with Del Ali at the side of me. Strikers who make their own goals dont play in this Division. Forwards in the lower leagues need service which Grigg ain’t getting.
Dont forget Grigg couldn’t get in the Brentford side before his season long loan to the MK Dons, were either not playing to his strengths or his shite. I personally think we could have spent that million pound far more wisely, a million gets you alot for your buck in Div14 January 2016 at 11:20 am #146488Our so called superman is making this division. Look harder than it is.Caldwell out .
4 January 2016 at 2:54 pm #146489Two massive home games coming up. Win those and we 3 behind Gillingham.
4 January 2016 at 3:37 pm #146491No doubt GC will worry more about Gillingham than they worry about us.
They’re a good team on a good run with a lad banging them in.Be a tough game this one and I’m sure we’ll look as static as ever with one up top, little service and game played at a slow tempo from us, while they fly about and don’t let us settle at the back, as we tippy tappy it about.
2-0 Latics
13 January 2016 at 1:52 am #146637That was garbage who’s our defending coach he should be sacked on the spot that’s why we won’t go up and then it’s a hard slog with no parachute payments well done Gary ps not use to this happening against us.
