“Considering a new one-year contract”.
Considering? What’s there to consider? Who else would give him a contract at 58 years of age, or whatever he is?
About time we bit the bullet and signed a young goalkeeper.
Christ almighty…..Kasper Schmeichel is there for the taking. Without a club and waiting to be snapped up.
14 May 2010 at 1:11 pm #33396What time’s your flight, Dave? ;)
14 May 2010 at 1:12 pm #33397I agree with vat on this one!
14 May 2010 at 1:40 pm #33404To be fair, minimum wage plus a years supply of Pooles pies isn’t that generous an offer.
14 May 2010 at 1:57 pm #33406What time’s your flight, Dave? ;)Monday, like I said.
Take it you don’t agree, Griff?
Pollitt is PAST it.

Only joshing with you, mate. As 3rd or 4th choice keeper he’s fine, that’s all.

Sorry Griff, didn’t mean it to come across so serious!
Was just wondering how you saw him, that’s all.
14 May 2010 at 4:53 pm #33432If Kasper did sign for us (big if as there are a few sniffin round him) surely the experience of the 58-year-old Pollitt would be good for him.
Bags of experience in the Prem and could be a good sort of tutor for him or any other young goalkeeper who might come to us.

By the way, I meant Pollitt as 3rd or 4th choice keeper, so:–
1st – Kirkland
2nd – Schmeichel/ANO Decent Keeper #1
3rd – Pollitt/ANO Number Maker-upper #1
4th – ANO Number Maker-upper #1/Pollitt14 May 2010 at 5:59 pm #33442Looks like we missed out on the De Gea lad from athletico we were interested in the summer when he was 3rd choice there and since then he has become their number 1 and just been called upto the Spainish world cup squad

Pollitt is 3 years younger than David James. Not that old

Kasper Schmeichel wants 1st team football, all Wigan can give him is a few cup games and if Kirkland’s out for a bit, another few games. I think he’s on wages around £35,000 so he could put Whelan off. On the other hand, there’s no need to worry about goalkeepers for another few years as Nicholles, Kirkland and Schmeichal would be under the age of 30.
14 May 2010 at 7:24 pm #33455Pollitt could still be a decent first backup for Kirkland, and seems happy as a No. 2. Could do a lot worse. All Martinez needs to do is play him, instead of the other jokers he and Bruce have signed and played ahead of him.

Polly – nice guy and all that but what exactly does he do –
so to answer my own question – does a couple of crosses at h-t, bit of a hand on the training pitch and on a one off plays a gamenew contract – lets be conservative and say £5’000 a week
FFS – what are you the reader of this thread on a week – the whole thing is a joke
