Having to play extra time now (and maybe penalties?)
Could be drained physically and mentally for Wednesday.

On that performance yes, but they haven’t been playing like that all season. That said, thats a great result for them, thought Spurs would smash them about 5-0 to be honest
On balance a pretty disappointing result for us I think.
Yes they might be drained for Wednesday and only looking towards the final…but more likely they’ll be brimming with confidence. Plus, what better way to prep for the FA Cup final than 5 no pressure premiership games that you can treat as training sessions?
I’m way less confident now about us getting a result against them as I was before today.Fair play to Pompey tho…brilliant achievement considering their situation and always good to see twitchy face get beat.

“Treat as training sessions” is perhaps the key thing.
They will not want to get injured, so may not play full-hearted. Our only problem is that we don’t have a Michael Brown or Lee Cattermole anymore who would rough them up a bit.
I still think it was a good result for us though.
I think it was a good game (2 hours of football on Wembley’s notoriously energy sapping pitch) & result for Latics (how many times do we hear the phrase “after the Lord Mayor’s Show” to describe a team who are allegedly brimming with confidence after a great result who then go & lose their next game
As professionals they shouldn’t but you can guarantee players will have possible injuries & suspensions on their mind & as they’re now down why would they risk picking em up in a game that means nowt to em
That said I think Latics under Bobby are more than capable of turning all that on its head & making a total pigs ear of this weeks game
Do you think owd Avram might rest a few players; cos on saturday they play Villa @ Fratton Park. So he might rotate his squad, since he has the luxury of playing for nowt !
Wednesday night is all about us, not Portsmouth.
If we start well and really take it to them I can see yesterday’s performance and occasion taking its toll on Pompey.
If we start nervously and find that we can’t get the first goal we’re in trouble. However, you would hope that the effort their lads put in yesterday would take its toll the longer the game goes on.
