Enjoyed yesterdays result, so had to sink a couple bottles of red.
Not wanting to waste the expensive stuff I opted for a couple bottles of Rioja from the cellar. Muriel to be precise !
Now if you treat Muriel correctly; give her about 4 hours to breathe, she will be ready to welcome you home from the match. The bonus is that she is on special offer at the Co-op for only £6.50 a chuck, at the moment.
I then cooked lambs steaks and mediterranean vegetables in the wood fired oven.
Perfect day, perfect evening !LHL

30 August 2021 at 12:10 pm #193721Red wine guide. Got to be less than a fiver.
Got to be at least 12.5%
If it’s crap just mix some Cider with it.
Class.30 August 2021 at 12:30 pm #193722That’s hard core Donny
But worth a try!
30 August 2021 at 1:28 pm #193723Sorry guys but I never touch the stuff. Beer mon me with a Southern Comfort chaser. Latics fans connoisseurs of wine whatever next? Dumping the pies for caviar
30 August 2021 at 2:23 pm #193724Whoa! Pie beats caviar hands down, pie beats all.
It’s a case of the correct vintage to match each individual pie filling.
30 August 2021 at 2:31 pm #193725After a whole few minutes contemplation
I reckon Donny’s wine and cider spritzer, a “Donny’s Kick”, would be ideal with a juicy kebab.
That’s my tea sorted!
30 August 2021 at 6:06 pm #193734Wow! I can confirm the a “Donny’s kick” packs more punch than Bobby Campbell!!
I’m off now to find a new liver
2 October 2021 at 7:02 pm #194224So, before I nip to the Co Op
What do people at the top of the table drink??
2 October 2021 at 7:28 pm #194225Well Phil,
In memory of an old chap and long standing Latics supporter since 1932 that I knew when I was a young Tic – I sometimes gave him a lift to Springfield Park and would often have Latics chat with him at the Bowling Green at Mossy Lea; and when I offered to buy him a drink, his answer was always – “I’ll just have a gill”. So tonight, it’s not cabernet or merlot; it’s just a gill of ale (quite fitting for a brilliant win at the Priestfield, and that’s how Jimmy Robbo would have celebrated !!!
2 October 2021 at 7:45 pm #194228Thanks Lostock, I’ll raise a gill or two to Jimmy and the Magnificent Tics

8 October 2021 at 6:57 am #194279Prefer white myself. A nice Petit Chablis never hurt anyone. Well maybe after the 3rd bottle
