I know these are always speculation and paper talk, but is whelans prediction about Bob goin to a ‘top club’ about to come true?
1 June 2013 at 2:57 pm #115186Can see this happening.
Pellegrini needs someone who knows the league and speaks both Spanish and English. He is successful, In terms of winning a trophy and tries to play a way that Pellegrini likes to play.
I wouldn’t mind one bit if Martinez took this job because that IS a good career move. He has always insisted it isn’t about money. Stoke would have been a bad move and as daft as it sounds Everton would have been even worse. Everton because they are destined to drop down the league now. Moyes has gone, Fellani,Baines the presence that is Neville are probably going elsewhere, On top of that, The core of their squad is teetering around the 30 age barrier and don’t have much in the way of youth talent or money. Funny thing is the good youth players they get they then get rid of.  Relegation scraps again in a few years for the Toffees.
Something must have happened with Martinez because before a few weeks of the season it was all commitment but then in Cup Final interviews leading up to it he started getting reluctant to commit. I would like to see him at City. I believe him when he says it isn’t about money because that would be a good career move for him.
The cynic in me says City approached Pellegrini illegally a few weeks before the end of the season and then Pellegrini got someone to approach Martinez.
1 June 2013 at 3:06 pm #115187Martinez will be announced as Evertons new manager early next week, despite all the posturing, false information and down right lies from whelan and kenwright this deal has agreed in principle for the best part of a month, and signed and sealed for over 2 weeks. ;)

How can it have been “signed and sealed” when he is still under contract at Wigan?
1 June 2013 at 3:14 pm #115189I think you’re right, by the way. More chance of him ending up at Everton than City.
