Just watched Reading highlights again. Scharner’s first half challenge on the Russian guy was awesome. The determination he showed to get back and get in such a clean challenge was impressive. If the whole team can show that kind fight and effort for the rest of the season we have a very good chance of staying up. I’m guessing the back 3 that started last Saturday will be our first choice for the run in? I’m sure Alcaraz will get a full run in the FA Cup but I’m guessing he will be used as back up in the run in?
I think Gary Neville made a very good point last night (in fairness he’s not a bad analyst) about beausajour for the second goal. He took a chance in closing down Morrsion who then lost the ball in midfield that lead to our second. If Morrison had managed to flick the ball to Kelly as a result of Beausajour committing himself Kelly could have had a free run down the right. If Reading had scored some fingers would have pointed at Beaujasour. Instead we are talking about his ‘pass of the season’. As Neville said these are the small margins in football.

think its a fair point26 February 2013 at 8:40 pm #104070We didn’t play 3 at the back. We played 4 – 4 – 2 so Figgy was left back and JB was playing the left wing.

It looked a lot more like 3-5-2 to me with Maloney supporting strikers. If that was an attempt at playing 4 across the back I would be worried
26 February 2013 at 11:27 pm #104076Was a bit sceptical about Scharner coming back in but it’s looking like a shrewd move. Good addition to the squad and could well play a key role in us staying up.
26 February 2013 at 11:33 pm #104078We didn’t play 3 at the back. We played 4 – 4 – 2 so Figgy was left back and JB was playing the left wing.We played the same system we always play.
Scharner has been superb since he came back.
27 February 2013 at 1:32 am #104080To be fair he had a top game on saturday, showing urgency and passion for the club.
Our system is flexible, it has to be defensively given how fragile we are at back. Its just much better when Boyce plays on right because he gives us stability both ways unlike Ronnie Stam!27 February 2013 at 1:54 am #104082We didn’t play 3 at the back. One of the main factors in our great run at the end of last season was the settled defence. We had something like 5 clean sheets in 8 games at one point and that was largely down to having the same 5 defenders across the back. Swap Scharner for Alcaraz and those same 5 were in place on Saturday.

think its a fair pointBeat me to it.
I think Neville talks a lot of sense usually.. but that point is irrelevant.
Yes football is a game of fine margins, but if they spent the whole post-match analysis talking about things that MIGHT have happened but actually DIDN’T, then Sky may as well cancel all it’s other programmes ‘cos that’d go on for f**king hours!
Pointless even mentioning it.

It was a decent pass no more no less but to be calling it the pass of the season !! I see passes like that week in week out on MOTD and the likes !

If golden boy Wilshire had made that pass the plaudits would still be telling us how wonderful he is.27 February 2013 at 10:56 pm #104114Just watched Reading highlights again. 28 February 2013 at 12:10 am #104116If indeed he did mean his pass of the season meaning his best pass of the season so far, which he didn’t I hasten to add, but if he did then it wouldn’t have taken much of a pass to eclipse his previous best contribution ! I would be willing to wager that if we went down not one current Premiership club would come sniffing around for him !
