Searching For Keith Bennett, Moors Murder Victim.

You’ve probably heard that Winnie Johnson, Keith Bennett’s mum, passed away on Friday 17th August, aged 78.

For years she had continued the search for the body of her son, Keith Bennett, who was murdered by Ian Brady and Myra Hindley on Saddleworth Moor, where they buried him back in 1964.

He remain’s the only known victim of them never to be found. For years searches have taken place, some reported, some kept quiet. Over the past few years, even the Pentagon has played a part, allowing use of state of the art satellite technology.
Contrary to common belief, progress HAS been made. Research has pinpointed the area where Keith is thought to be buried to 5 square miles of Saddleworth Moor. That sounds a lot, but the vastness of the area means that 5 square miles is not that big an area. The area is around a place known as Shiny Brook, off the A635 Holmfirth road, that crosses the bleak and lonely moor.

What I would like to gather opinion of, is:

If a new search was to be set up, and you had the time to spare, would YOU be willing to go and volunteer to put in a few hours work, as part of a search team, cris-crossing the area that has been deemed the likely location of his burial?

I myself, have decided that If I hear something is going to happen, I want to be involved. It all happened long before I was born, but I feel very strongly about this, and would be very proud if I was part of the search that found Keith Bennett, allowing him to have a proper burial, and be laid to rest alongside his mum.

It would fulfil her dying wish, and I really think that it would finally draw a line under the whole Brady and Hindley thing.

Keith’s remaining family want him home. So do I. And so I bet, do most people. I think a bit of compassion and effort from people….and it may just happen.
