The red? hopefully horrible decision!
30 March 2010 at 3:48 pm #28037It was a bad decision but unless you’re a top 4 club it’s highly unlikely you’ll be succesful with an appeal.
Look at what Gerrard (and the likes of) get away with week in week out and Caldwell who is a naturally hard tackler wins the ball clearly without trying to hurt the player and he sees red.
It’s ridiculous and we should appeal but, for what it’s worth I doubt anything will come of it.
30 March 2010 at 4:24 pm #28041Whether we like it or not those sorts of tackles are now classed as a red card
30 March 2010 at 4:44 pm #28043i think trevor fooking brooking will stop any appeal , i think he as a finger in the dodgy refs we have had of late ,to help his beloved wetshambles.

31 March 2010 at 12:44 am #28097Atwell will have reported it as ‘dangerous/serious foul play’.
That normally brings a 3 game ban.
If we appeal it, I have no doubt we will lose, as they go off the referee’s report, and he is hardly going to contradict himself, and then they extend the ban, usually by another 2 games. That would make it a 5 game ban, and we only have 6 games left.
So no, I doubt very much we will be appealing. I think we are daft and naive if we do. Just have to grit our teeth and take it on the chin. I know it’s rubbish, and you know it’s rubbish, but on a slightly positive side, if he misses 3 games, it will probably be Fulham, Arsenal, and Pompey games. (I think it’s with immediate effect. If not, he’ll miss Arsenal, Pompey, and West Ham) I can’t see us getting anything from the first 2 games (Fulham and Arsenal), anyway. Better than him missing 5 games and then being eligible at Chelsea, in what is more than likely a ‘throw away’ fixture, in all reality.
31 March 2010 at 2:17 am #28107Perfect opportunity for Scharner to slot into his position me thinks ! He will do a good job there for next 3 games !
31 March 2010 at 11:45 am #28119Unfortunately I think, if his subistitutions when we went 2-0 down are anything to go by then I think he’ll put Gohouri at centre half & scharner in his midfield
Hope I’m wrong & that he drops Scharner back to centre half, drops Thomas to the bench & plays with Diame & McCarthy in the centre of midfield & Moses “in the hole” with N’Zogbia returning to the right wing
Might be a bit risky seeing as how we still aint safe from relegation but as we’ve only scored 3 goals in our last 8 games he needs to try somet to given us a bit more bite up front & I’ve given up hoping he’ll play 4-4-231 March 2010 at 11:00 pm #28158The red? hopefully horrible decision!Considering eveybody has deided to post on your thread but NOT answer your question.. If that is true……I despair…..I really do.
Has Roberto not grasped yet, that the ‘powers that be’ are AGAINST us.
You know it, and I know it. But if our manager DOES try and appeal that….sorry but it smacks of naivety.
1 April 2010 at 2:22 pm #28194No we are not Martinez has just been on ssn saying we were appealing against the red card on the grounds the ref sent him off for a two footed tackle but when he read the report the ref didnt put it in as a two footed tackle sending off
