Hello Wigans
Tough game to call today – probably be a draw or win for you guys. We’re in decent form but the defeat at ManUre will have taken a fair bit out of us.
Based on the last few games you can expect to see a different style to the one you played earlier in the season. We’re still playing good football but now it’s based on pressure and moving the ball quickly. Whereas before we sometimes played possession for the sake of it now we’re not adverse to taking a risk and trying to create chances. Defensively we’ve tightened up but we’ll play a high line so a bit of pace might expose us – luckily Boruc is coming into a bit of form.
Certainly think there will be goals today. Have to admit I’ve not seen much of you guys but remember you teaching us a bit of a lesson when we played before. Who are the players to look out for? Kone and Malloney stood out at St. Mary’s. Anyway, all the best and hope anyone going gets to see a good game. Bet we’ll still be the last match on MOTD though eh?

Reading hThat’s hardly intimidating. Like Wigan, they had a better second half in midweek. Wigan came away with a draw, Southampton with a defeat.
I would say that there are two great dangers; Lambert at centre forward and Wigan giving the ball away under pressure.

In fairness it should have been me collecting, we were battered.

How bad was the defending for their second goal? Macmanaman powder puff (looks out of his depth in Prem every time he comes on) then one player ghosts in past 5 defenders in our 6 yard box. Both full backs looked easy to get past all afternoon whilst Lambert reminded us what its like to have a proper centre forward.
Southampton should have good players – they spent £33 million over the summer. Ramires cost £12 million and Rodriguez £7 million.
But Wigan’s performance was disappointing yesterday, especially as Southampton had already revealed their game plan on Wednesday night at Old Trafford. Once again, Southampton reorganised at half-time, bringing on Davis and Lallana. Wigan were simply unable to cope.
Midfield lost their grip on the game. Greater industry was required, which could not be provided by Gomez and McManaman. Perhaps it reveals the limits of Wigan’s resources and the constraints faced by Martinez.

But you’re right, sad is taking it a bit far – I’m not that bothered about it.
I had £4 on 2-2 @ 12-1 ! Been in bed since with some mystery virus ! Got home from match and went down hill rapidly, was in bed for 8 !
