Any idea how many we’ll be taking there? As you can probably tell with my username I live in Southport, used to be SouthportTic but apparently someone’s nicked my suffix. Anyway, I’m taking my mate to the match who’s never been to a football match in his life, figured this would be the ideal opportunity to try and get him to one. If it’s just me and him in the away end I can’t see him enjoying himself though!
Luckily the weather’s bloody fantastic if it lasts and it’s an alright day out, hopefully we’ll take a few.
6 July 2015 at 12:42 pm #143084I don’t think you need to worry, there will be quite a few there I would guess.
FA Cup Winners 2013, sounds good that

I live on Riverside marrer so I’m going and looking forward to quaffing a few in that beltin club the Sandgrounders have. Should be a good day out hopefully in the sun.
6 July 2015 at 8:14 pm #143091There’s a decent pub in town called the sandgrounder actually, the other 10 pubs in Southport are genuinely depressing places to be in. I’m 3 minute walk from the stadium so I might have to drink with all the Southport fans unless I go well out my way.
Can’t promise any sun though, Sunny Southport is a nickname used with tongue firmly in cheek.

We use the Falstaff most weekends but it only reopens after refurb on the 17th so we have been in the Ship for the past weeks. The Sandgrounder in town is good for TV games but I use our on site club, no driving no taxis
7 July 2015 at 2:04 am #143098Falstaff is only useful on cold days because the pints warm your hands up! I was in the ship the on Friday, it’s a clever pub because you have to get drunk to be able to stand it. Clever marketing technique. Sandgrounder does have that big screen that you can never quite see all of. They had an even bigger one in the Albert but it was predictably “robbed” just before the landlord packed up and left.

I quite like the Coronation as well for football. Not to keen on the Albert tho marrer.
