Interesting in the timing – although its quiet at the moment about a takeover, remember this was probably one if the factors he considered when he was in a similar situation at pompey, and moved to us, so depending upon what he knows already about a potential takeover, it may be a case of de javu for him ..
Interesting in the timing – although its quiet at the moment about a takeover, remember this was probably one if the factors he considered when he was in a similar situation at pompey, and moved to us, so depending upon what he knows already about a potential takeover, it may be a case of de javu for him ..When Cook was interviewed as the potential takeover story broke I interpreted him comments as being that he knew about the potential takeover at Latics when he was offered the post & he’d been kept up to date with developments since arriving – therefore the possible takeover, & an injection of funds, may have been one of the reasons why he moved to Latics in the first place.
In another interview, the takeover at Pompey played a part in him leaving but only in so much as it meant that promises made to him at the end of the previous season weren’t honoured coz the buy out put a stop to everything as the current/previous owners weren’t prepared to stump up money shortly before they flogged the club. I believe that the new guys then tried to persuade him to stay but he’d already made up his mind.
He didn’t leave just because new owners were coming in
