Greetings from a very quiet Emirates stadium where myself and StandishWalker have just witnessed another fantastic performance and I out-statted Motty in the Arsenal Directors box – and no, thats not a euphuism.
Was hoping for a chat with Hindley or Bicky or LMB but I guess we’ll have to carry on celebrating.
17 April 2012 at 12:29 pm #85298I guess it was inevitable from the ” Stand by your man ” type support you have for each other on here that one day you would become real friends !
17 April 2012 at 12:29 pm #85299Did you get to see the sheepskin coat?

17 April 2012 at 1:57 pm #85313Where are all these clowns who have berated the Manager over the last few months? Always first on here sticking the knife in when the chips were down. These are’nt fans. They wallow in our demise and kick us when we are down. For those of us that kept the faith these are happy times.
We have just witnessed probably the two finest performances in our history yet these darksiders never come on and put their hands up. Probably too busy writing lyrics in case it goes pear shaped again and they can jump straight in again with the boot. For us real fans these must surely be our proudest days.
17 April 2012 at 2:20 pm #85319I am still here Bigroy but seeing as the manager changed his tune so did I !!
17 April 2012 at 2:20 pm #85320Every single person who watches Wigan Athletic whether they go to every game or a handful in a season, whether they’ve stood by Bobby religiously for the last 3 seasons or whether they’ve wanted him out since Spurs beat us 9-1, whether they think Whelan is a saviour or a penny pinching/pocket filling old miser who reneges on his promises is a “real” fan
Or is your definition of a real fan someone who slates on his own kind & delights in sticking the knife & boot into them??
The word that I have in my head at the moment rhymes with punt
17 April 2012 at 3:01 pm #85329I am still here Bigroy but seeing as the manager changed his tune so did I !!So Roberto has your full support now?
Would you care to admit your constant berating of him was not only premature but unnecessary?

To be fair to Motty, he was chugging heavily on a bottle of red wine, and I very much doubt if that was his first of the evening.
But he did look slightly peeved that he’d been out-statted.

A transcript:Motson: Di Santo’s now on five goals so he’s Wigan top scorer.
Griff: Actually John, Gomez also scored tonight so he’s on five goals too.
Motson: Errr, I think you might be right….(mumbles, shuffles uncomfortably on his feet and takes a large swig of his Merlot)
In defence of Motty, he did say that he was a big fan of Martinez and found him to be astute and intelligent, and he was genuinely happy that Wigan looked to be on the verge of staying up again. And, the man did seek out Wiganers to talk to (who, like him were also abusing the free bar).
