The Wigan Athletic site has announced, “The games against Swansea City originally scheduled for Saturday 13 April will now be played on Tuesday 7 May at 7.45pm.”
That’s the Tuesday before the Cup Final! It’s also the week I was planning to go away. The same thing happened last season. I booked my holiday, and then the Blackburn game was moved from Saturday to Monday.
Anyway, a midweek game is not good preparation for the Cup Final. Just supposing Wigan did get there, then when would they play the game at Arsenal? It looks like it would be the following week – and just before the Aston Villa game.
That would give Wigan five games in 16 days. There’d be no time to recover from the Cup Final, whatever the result. And there’d be precious little time to prepare for the possibly deciding game against Aston Villa.
