Was anyone surprised by the spanking we received yesterday? After we went down to 10-men I feared we could be on the end of another Tottenham result.
Why? Because we have no other way of playing. When we went 2-0 down we should have played two banks of four with Rodders up front on his own and N’Zog or Prince Harry breaking when they could.
We had already lost the game after half an hour and it should then have all been about damage limitation.
I keep hearing that these results are a good learning experience, yet surely they are having a massive impact on our mental toughness. If they were a learning experience surely the players would be learning from them?
These defeats are likely to leave their mark on the younger players. Time to have a serious think about some of our players and clear out the dead wood starting with Melchiot and start thinking about our tactics for next season.
And if we get a decent offer for N’Zog we should take it. Cole had him in his pocket all game yesterday.

I think you will find that Cole has most right wingers in his pocket.
10 May 2010 at 2:59 pm #32755Fair point. But he just didn’t look up for it. It was like he thought ‘I can’t beat him for pace’ so I won’t bust a gut.
What we should have done is switch him to the other side to have a go at that cart horse Ivanovic.
It’s all academic now anyway. We should all put a line through this season and look forward to next season with optimisim that we can sort out our defensive frailties.

Crucial close season this one, both on the training ground and in the transfer market.
10 May 2010 at 3:10 pm #32758It is a crucial close season. But think of all those high earners we will be getting off the wage bill – Koumas, Scharner and Melchiot.
But then if we sell Figgy, N’Zog and Rodders we’ll be needing two new full backs, at least two strikers, a winger – that’s almost half a team.
I have to say that I think Diame is our crown jewel at the moment. He had a great game yesterday for me and wouldn’t have looked out of place in Chelsea’s team.
We need to hang on to him big style as I think next year he’ll be even better.
10 May 2010 at 4:25 pm #32772too many players with moves to other clubs on thier minds i think.

12 May 2010 at 9:56 pm #33130The tactics don’t prevent goals, nor do they lead to goals being scored. Surely they are, therefore, bad tactics as we are a football team and the purpose of football is to score goals and not concede them.
How many goals have been created by the genius tactics of RM ? Very few. Would Steve Bruce’s tactics have created the same number of goals – I’m sure they would even though they were simpler and arguably more primitive.
The lad means well but he doesn’t learn and is treated as a bit of a jerk by most other managers I’m afraid. Pains me to say it. I’d love to see Holland 1974 being created over the summer but it won’t happen. We’ll sign players who can pass but aren’t wanted elsewhere because they aren’t good enough. I fear more terrible drubbings.
Have a fine summer everyone. I need to not think about this for a bit.

Obviously you have thought too much about it, as that was utter shoite you have just posted. Of course Tactics lead to goals scored AND conceeded.
13 May 2010 at 8:07 pm #33320JamesC – I thought too much about it ? Sorry about that my friend. I’ll put myself in half wit mode so that we have more in common.

By the way you are saying I am a dimwit BUT I can gurantee you that I am not the thickest poster on here, not even close to be fair ;)
