Watched the extended highlights this morning ……and a painful watch it was. Lowe completely blew any hope of getting a result but some of the players performances were wage deducting. Fox’s Cock up,Matt Smiths ,Sess,Murray…..etc all turned in horror shows on the day. Our flanks were wide open and doubt Horwich will get that much freedom again all season. Pray we learn a tough lesson and hope Lowe takes note that January’s return game isn’t “Just another game “!!!

I’m sounding like a stuck record but I watched a couple of highlights of Horwich’s previous games. Duberry scored a screamer cutting in from the right the other week and Horwich fans were screaming for Gale to start more often as he had played really well when coming on.

I can only imagine Horwich’s previous opponents doubled up on the left and right because if they played 3 at the back like us they’d have had a few more 3&4-0’s.

For us to playing front foot flowing attacking football we have to have all our best players fit or ready, Kerr Carragher Saydee so adapt when their absent.

We kept going long and if Saydee had of played a few of those might have stuck.

Not only do we need our best 11 but we need 2 or 3 quality players. What we have are decent but every club needs that bit of humph that better quality to bring others on.

But the most worrying bit for me was, I had reservations about 3 at the back and highlighted it a few days before the game but Lowe wasn’t too concerned and it panned out exactly how I prayed it wouldn’t,

        A tonking.

Wier does an awful lot of thankless chasing and hounding just to put pressure on his opponents but he wasn’t even on the bench which was a baffler especially with our shortage of defenders.

Luke Robinson 100% should have started and Mullin up top on his own. Robinsons a player who plays with his heart on his sleeve and at least he knows what this game meant to all us fans

I want us to go 442 on Saturday, like we finished the game on Saturday.

We need to strip it back to basics. Solid back 4, Sess or Carra right back, Aimson/Fox and Kerr/Fox centre backs, Robinson/Fox at left back. A solid midfield. I’d put Smith and Wright in the midfield centre, Murray right, Hungbo left.

          Mullin and Saydee up front.

Subs. The keeper, Trevitt, Costelloe, either of the defenders who aren’t playing, Weir, McManaman.

Adeeko wouldn’t even be on the bench. Aimson and Hungbo only really get in because we haven’t got that many other options. We are still too light and short. Still crying out for an experienced figure..a leader. We all saw it on Saturday.

Let’s have it in the open, they played like they’d been out on the piss on Friday night.

I will say it and say it again…Joe Ralls would’ve been worth a call and a conversation. 15 years at Cardiff, played about 20 games for them last season before being released in the summer. Still only 31/32. Still without a club. Always been solid when hes played us in the past. I was disappointed we didn’t bring Power back, and then thought we might get Ryan Ledson. We didn’t. We just need some solid experience in the centre. That’s my opinion. Someone to get their foot on the ball and be calm. Smith was looking for that player when he was robbed for their third goal.

We are still so limited with our scouting and player acquisition. The realisation on Saturday that how much Bolton have come out of Admin and are thriving again. We aren’t. We still seem….limited? Having been to the rugby as well as Latics, there’s a buzz around Warriors that we haven’t got at Latics. We feel like a sideshow in comparison. Many have felt like this previously, but after Saturday, it really made me think. It opened my eyes. We get players on loan from same level clubs….Bolton had players from Premier league, top of Championship and France. The realisation that in many ways we are still treading water…it alarms me.  We cant carry on with the ‘lucky to have a club’ mindset. I refuse to. Its a piss poor excuse now. Its time we shaped ourself as a club again.

Ive still high hopes of what Lowe can achieve with us, but Saturday was a massive kick in the bollocks. He still needs to be busy in January (3 or 4 still needed) and as things stand, unless we have a really strong finish in the second hald of the season, we will finish about 12th at most. We are a 2 steps forward, 3 steps back type of team at the moment. A Bet Killer. Can win 3 nil one week, lose 3 nil the next. And that gets you nowhere.

Just had a fantastic flashback to about 1987. In the club shop after a game where we lost. Everybody could hear Ray Mathias going absolutely nuts at the players and Bobby Campbell having a go back. Honestly, I remember it so clearly. Ray came across as calm and collected…quite similar to Lowe. But obviously could also combust when needed.

I hope Ryan Lowe has combusted at them on Sunday and Momday and then moved us on with prep for Saturday.

With a fit squad, defenders and Saydee and 4 at the back that game would have been a it tighter.

2 have 3 of your main players out then go 3 at back made no sense what so ever

            But Adeeko?

He got in before Wright who’d played well the week before and Cooper who when all said and done is an international player that for me was a bonkers moment.

We should have started 1 up top and for me 5 in the middle 4 at the back and doubled up on their wingers and without compromising the middle of the park.

Wright in the middle L.Robinson at the back belt & braces football against, let’s face it a better side.

Adeeko should be no more than a bit time player for me he’s a liability .If we’re to progress then we need better midfielders on from the start and right now either Wright or Cooper should start.

Rodrigues has to 1 million percent start. I saw enough in that 45 minutes to think with minutes he’d improve massively.

Also Asamoah Jr his pace alone can scare the shit out of any opposition so hopefully we see the pair tonight along with Cooper

I honestly don’t get what anyone sees in Adeeko. Ive had it put to me that there is some ‘loyalty’ shown to him as he is an academy product and ‘we need to keep showing that’.

Bollocks. We dont if he is shite. And to me, he is no better than Scot Smith who was shown the door, or Jensen Weir who has cone in for some criticism recently. Someone at the club loves Adeeko…but Ive no idea why exactly? He stealing a wage as far as I’m concerned. McManaman was another wasted wage as well. It was a Cronyistic decision to give him another year.

We do get stuck on certain players and certain players names at Wigan. We did years ago with Kevin Langley. People talked like he was a world beater when he came back to us. No, he wasn’t. And neither is McManaman. He was a cheap filler of a squad space.

We better play well on Saturday….

Scott Smith was a strange one and Weir puts himself about Weir does alot of donkey unnoticed work and he’s adaptable to a few positions but right now we cannot play 3 at the back it has to be 4 no arguments till at least certain players come back.

I’d bring L.Robinson in at least he’s passionate has some fight to him and first and for most he’s a feckin defender.

                Let’s go 4-4-1-1 (2 forwards) or 4-5-1

4-4-1-1 (2) Saydee behind or upsides Mullin or 2 central mid, 2 wide and a loan striker. If Saydee’s help the midfield 2.

I prefer 4-5-1, 3 central mid, one attacking i .e. M.Smith but get him in as an attacking mid orchestrating mid/left/right. We have to get goals from not just our forwards they have to come from everywhere.

I personally feel we’d get more out of say Mullin poaching off good build up play then popping up in the right places than trying to hold it up 30 yard out.

I’m not sure why both Maloney & Lowe both drop M.Smith back into a holding role when I think he’s easily the most creative player we have. If he’s moved forward I’m sure over a season he’d chip in with a few goals but he won’t get many stood in front of Aimson.

First and for most we need to stop leaking goals. It’s not just leaking them it’s the manner of those goals conceded. Wycombe’s second was straight out:-

“The Book of Amateur League Football, how to”

But I can, you can, the whole club can see the squad as a whole is a candy floss squad light in quality not numbers.

I sensed in some of the wording of Lowes post match interview that I don’t think he’s best pleased with the quality of this summers recruitment.

He subliminally mentioned the squad in his interview similar to remarks he made at Preston which we all know how that ended but I’ve got to say Lowes right. He knows he needs that touch of quality and it ain’t coming that’s for sure.

I reckon hes been forced to loan out Darcey and Mellish J.Smith before he could bring someone in and them three (and a few more tbh) were the sacrificial lambs.

It’s no were near the finished article not even close but against Wycombe (who made 11 changes) it was worse than Bolton in my eyes.

Why you might say,”That weren’t as bad as Bolton!”  But after Saturdays poor performance and result then a cup game 3 days later it was the perfect opportunity for the players to respond and a couple of fringe players to get a chance against a lesser opposition but all’s I saw was a shrug of the shoulders performance totally lacking in passion, energy and not one ounce of quality.

If we play 3 at the back and play like Saturday and Tuesday we will get tonked

At the end of the day we have a very rich owner who will not part with it. No one’s saying do a Birmingham or a Wrexham but support your manager. We need I reckon 3 decent money spent signings on 3 year deals to build round and a strong midfield unit and captain.

All over midfield look like 10st 1500m runners when really 1 or 2 should look like 14st 100m sprinters sh*thouse wall size comes to mind

As for Adeeko?, not good enough and Macca ? legend but I think he’s here for the changing room. He’ll end up as Lowes assistant at some point, watch this space

                  Joe Ralls…

Was Cardiff Captain up until the summer. Central midfielder. Solid. Played around 20 games for them last season in the Championship. He’s 31/32. I find it criminal hes not been picked up by a club.

For me, he could do a good job for us for a season or two. A solid, experienced player.

I honestly think he’s worth a phone call and a conversation. But then again, maybe we should give Ollie Cooper a start?

The straight bottom line is, the quality throughout the club is not there. We can talk discuss argue about players and starting line ups but the depth of the squad is paper thing.

Were 2-3 first team players missing and were a totally different side.

I do not think it’s a coincidence that when we lost against Luton, Salford, Bolton and Wycombe Adeeko started.

For me the lads a liability. He constantly fails to track runners and they seem to be able to breeze past him care free his tackling for large parts is poor.

He has these big lapses in concentration were opposition can easily go past him and it kills us but for some reason when he’s fit he’s in.

Central midfield is the one position we’ve plenty of cover when fit with 8 possibly 9 fighting for 3 places.

M.Smith, Trevitt, Wright, Cooper, Brenan, Weir, Francois, even Murray but for some reason Adeeko’s straight back in.

I was only praising the way Smith Wright and Trevitt dealt with Doncaster hounding, harassing then quickly winning the ball back, they had a good understanding of each others on field role covering each others backs which is key.

They protected our back 3 against Doncaster only for Lowe to break the trio up it for the Bolton game when it wasn’t broken and look what happened.

It’s a key position that midfield role and most games are won or lost there with around 50% of most games taking part in the middle of the park and wide mid.

We’ve Cardiff Saturday and if we start with a makeshift back 3 and Adeeko in front we might just struggle.

We desperately need to invest in the squad. We can’t keep having huge amount of player turn over every year basically 10 to 14 out in every summer. We need 4-5 decent quality players who can help the younger lads hence why McManaman’s  here.

We need people like him who are passionate about the club that remind others we’ve a fighting underdog spirit at the club otherwise we’d end up with a bunch of wage bill players passing through till they find bigger and better things or their here to end their days.

Fingers crossed for Sat no matter who plays every player on that field for that 90 minutes will get my support regardless but the away results coupled with the last 2 games at best I can us finishing two thirds of the way down the table 10th-16th I’d say
