Most people I speak to would agree with you Griff, Scotland is the best we have at holding the ball up but he suffers from Heskey syndrome, a much more severe case than Emile had though and that’s not good enough when you’re leading the line, earlier in the season we played a few balls over the top for him, leaving him in 1 on 1 situations on a number of occasions and he fluffed every one.
No ridicule from me. There’s nobody rooted more for Jason Scotland than me. He’s taken a load of stick but he’s never hidden and always put 100% in.
Having said that and when it all boils down, I don’t think he’s a Premiership quality striker but as far as putting in a shift and trying to do the business as far the team’s concerned, he’ll do for me.
I’d start him before Moreno every game.
The pundit on Sky said we were playing a 4 3 3 formation from the start and he should know. That was Sky sports news by the way and not the actual match coverage !
Mark my words, it will take Moreno longer to get his first goal than it took Scotland.
I hope he steps up with the winner on Saturday and I’m proved wrong but I somehow can’t see it.
Sorry guys but I like many thousands of others at the DW have given Scotland every possible opportunity to show what he can do. Unfortunately the simple fact is he can’t ! He may well be a very good championship player but will never do it in the Premier league. As for Moreno he too may not find the net but at least he has a decent first touch on the ball and wins the occasional header. Against Portsmouth you could clearly see that our own players started to play around Scotland rather than just waste the ball by trying to pass it to him.

He can’t hold it up well… He can run away from defenders then pass it backwards or sideways if he’s feeling like a mad-man, feeling crazy out there. Thats what you meant to say :D

Agreed, Ben Watson is a goal scorer and he’s decent too. I’ve been pulling my hair out playing Scharner in an advanced role because he wastes loads of chances.
Moses looks dangerous out wide and it free’s Roda to play through the centre.
