Built on top of an old landfill site. There’s enough methane under there to blow your pants off!!
Oh, heard Bob’s getting ahead of the game and hired a local farmers ploughed field for the lads to train in before the next home game!!
Ha Ha!!

It’s a fair point though. The position suits Wigan down to the ground. One of the top 3 grounds in the league and we pay absolutely NOTHING for the maintenance of it :D
Oh, and to any of my rugby brethren reading this, i didn’t put that as the link. Cheers Jay

6 February 2011 at 1:35 pm #58476The Keck! used to be behind the co- op at the crossroad between woodhouse lane and frog lane near the brick. the DW is built on the gant ie used to be wigans biggest tip :P
6 February 2011 at 3:36 pm #58505The water table is so bad in the area, the drains that are supposed to drain water off the pitch/stadium, sometimes back up, up the drains, when we have a lot of rain.
It’s a problem they could, and should have solved when they made the stadium. It’s a design fault.
6 February 2011 at 6:11 pm #58540I see the rugby lot are claiming that their M62 v’s 4 States in Oz, charity game is now “ruined” and the pitch will stop their “free flowing rugby” – how exaclty ? The ball is in the air a lot anyway. Surely their super fit athletes can run on mud ? They only do 15min shifts before being subbed anyway.
When they played rugby in the winter at Central Park and the pitch was like a ploughed field it never stopped them playing “free flowing rugby” and dominating the sport at the same time.
Have the rugby lot now got a little bit precious now that their game is controlled, and propped up, by BSkyB ? They’ll be wearing fecking snoods next.
6 February 2011 at 6:48 pm #58547La mode de eggchaser snood a perfect match for their new cherry an pink home shirts.
:oops:7 February 2011 at 2:36 am #58633Despite all the money supposedly spent the pitch looked a right mess yesterday. The bad news is there’s only one football fixture and no rugby fixtures before the Man Utd game. That means the pitch wont be completely shredded by the time Fergie’s boys come to town, which could be a bad thing – maybe DW could arrange some local polo club to come and train on it all week so that it resembles a ploughed field come kick-off time. I reckon Berbatov, Nani & co might not fancy it as much then!
Any idea if they’ll be doing £10 tickets for this one?
