A Wigan Athletic star has been fined after he admitted driving without insurance.
Mohamed Diame, 22, was charged by police after he was caught driving his Audi along Robin Park Road without a valid insurance policy.
The French midfielder, who cost Latics £3.4m from Madrid side Rayo Vallecano in 2009,was caught out by officers on the afternoon of November 6 last year.
Diame, of Dakota Drive, Warrington, did not turn up for a scheduled appearance before Wigan Magistrates’ Court.
Instead he pleaded guilty by post.
He was fined £290 and ordered to pay £35 costs to the police and a £15 victim surcharge. His licence was also endorsed with six penalty points.
