I’ve done a thread about this. Roberto clearly has is hands tied, and is planning on seeing how the young players do, before going out and buying anybody else.
It reeks of penny pinching, as per usual.
Does my head in.
21 July 2010 at 4:31 pm #40661No it doesn’t Dave, it reeks of sensible financial management of a football club punching well above its weight
21 July 2010 at 4:36 pm #40665No it doesn’t Dave, it reeks of sensible financial management of a football club punching well above its weightSurely we aren’t that tight and constricted? If so, then it’s time Whelan sold up or got some new investment in.
I think this might be the straw that breaks the camels back, this season.
We got lucky last year with Pompey surrendering, Hull being rubbish, and Burnley being out of their depth.
This season will be a lot harder.21 July 2010 at 4:41 pm #40670No it doesn’t Dave, it reeks of sensible financial management of a football club punching well above its weight

[/quote]Oh Christ, here we go again. Go on then, take your pick from the queue of billionaires lining up to take ownerhsip of the club. Which one will you choose?

21 July 2010 at 4:54 pm #40677Groundhog day again a player decides to leave the club VAT in meltdown shock   :roll:I said before, the time to [s:ktz44xge]panic[/s:ktz44xge] show a little bit of concern is if we don’t replace Bramble at all (squad member only if, as expected, Alcaraz joins as a first-teamer) and any of Figueroa, Rodallega and N’Zogbia go – again, without being replaced.
Certainly no need reach fo the pills just yet

It’s a pity a few more can’t.
Deluded, you lot. Honest to god.

What’s deluded Vat you come out with a panic attack spouting on about getting rid of Whelen as the potential backers are queing up on the M6 .Or just sit back and wait and see what happens your like a child who cant wait for christmas mon
21 July 2010 at 5:16 pm #40699I was a sceptic like you Vat before i read the Pompey report last season, I cant slate Uncle Dave for running us smoothly, i will be happy if we stay up just, but obviously i would be expecting to improve on last season. He has just paid 6m for Boselli, Thats a lot of money and shows faith in the manager, Lets play a few games first eh.
21 July 2010 at 5:20 pm #40700Have to say I’m with Griff on this one
Latics have a transfer & wage budget that they need to stick to. Penny pinching or not, that is the reality of the situation and you can’t spend money that you haven’t got
I’d love some multi-billionaire sheikh to pump his money in like at City but that isn’t gonna happen. And at the same time you can’t keep telling Dave Whelan to put his hand in his pocket & spend his own money to satisfy your ambitions
That’s not to say I am happy with Bramble going or entirely happy with Martinez saying that we only need 3 more players in & that there’s no rush to bring em in anyway. Nor do i think this season will be anything less than a struggle & a relegation scrap with some more heavy tonkings along the way – I’d imagine most people on here whether they agree with what you’re saying now VAT on not can see that too so it isn’t about being able to see the wood for the trees
As Griff says, if Whelan was to “step aside” which billionaire with bottomless pockets would you suggest he steps aside for?21 July 2010 at 5:22 pm #40701I forgot, Griff is the ‘messiah’ on here.
Bye bye chaps, enjoy the season.
