To those of you who left hurling abuse at the team when their second goal went in, you missed a classic through your own petulance.
Real fans stay, even when losing, and get behind the team, just so that occasionally things happen like today.
The team seem to have done fine without you, with the rest of us who stayed. So in future save your money and stay at home. The team don’t need you.
6 September 2015 at 2:10 am #144599You do say ‘those who left hurling abuse…..’. The 4 sitting near me were sorry to leave but had to go to catch a train, so forgive them please. They are a bit disappointed and that may be an understatement.
Other than that ….. what a blinkin’ great trip out. A stunner. Reminded me a bit, just a bit, of visiting the Etihad. Exciting, some good play, some stunning saves, some nerves and a final sense of elation and relief. Today we had 3 good goals rather than 2.
For me … I want to see more of VicKick; Perkins is tireless; James is making his mark down that left side; Donnervon is solid; and it would be easier to assess if I knew who they all are. I was delighted that Barnett scored a goodun, and less delighted he scored a goodun. He heard me – I told him to do the same at this end and he dutifully obeyed.
Now we need songs for the players. How about ‘the Shaun Maloney’ adapted to the ‘David Perkins’? ‘Jordi Hiwula scores when he wants’; Donnervons here Donnervons there, Donnervons everyfrigginwhere.
Well done travelling fans …… good support, great atmosphere. Love it! Keep Gary!!

Nineteen out.
In out,in out, shake em all about.
You do the Gary Caldwell and turn around.
That’s what it’s all about.
Oh do the Gary Caldwell, oh do the Gary Caldwell, oh do the Gary Caldwell.
One hundred points, that’s what it’s all about.6 September 2015 at 4:09 am #144603Well said George, it was good to meet up with you today and talk proper latics stuff.
My mate lost his bottle at 2-0 and was talking about GC being tic tacked by Xmas.We have a team of battlers, there is no doubt about that, and not just a team of battlers, a team to cover for a team of battlers. Chris McCann got the MOM on our coach and didn’t play 45 mins. The boy Vuckic looked absolutely superb and Davies, well, when did we see a player who would die for the club. Bring on PV they will have to be something special to beat GC’s barmy army. :cheer:

What a journey!6 September 2015 at 2:44 pm #144609how self righteous
Incredible scenes from those who stayed, though 99 times out of 100 those who left would have been justified.
I wouldn’t imagine Port Vale are quaking in their boots just yet.6 September 2015 at 2:55 pm #144610Vale will be quaking in their boots if they hear we are going there to play positive attacking football but Vale like any other club will fancy their chances if they hear we are going there to build up a slow momentum from the back as demonstrated yesterday before the change of style and formation.

I wouldn’t imagine Port Vale are quaking in their boots just yet.Let the past go lad, its now that matters. We are beginning to see the makings of a team that might, just might get us out of this league.
We are also seeing the makings of a what may turn out to be a decent manager. I reckon a Martinez, Rossler, Jewell, Coyle or a McKay would have lost the game.
GC doesn’t wait till the game has gone before changing things and its usually a big change with two subs at a time and change in formation. As it happens his first two changes, taking Daniels and Vuckic off, back fired on him and they scored two goals. OK one was an unstoppable shot, after giving him too much space and the other an OG.His second change did make the difference and he turned it around.
Can I also point out that even when we were two down, we had already had about 10 attempts at goal, 6 on target including 3 one on ones. The game might have been well and truly over but for their goalie and some indecision by Jacobs and Davies in particular.
So Donny’s Page, I don’t think he got it wrong from the start, the chances where made but unfortunately not taken. Let’s not be too negative on GC’s initial team selection and formation it looked quite good from where I was sat.I read the pre-match interview from Dean Saunders and he was very clear on the fact that he expected Wigan to be there and there abouts at the end of the season [he did refer to the parachute payment and the fact that we could spend a bit of money].
He said that with the quality and depth of squad, we could maintain our form when injuries and suspensions start to kick in mid way through the season. So whilst not “quaking in his boots” he understands the position of our squad, pity some of our fans don’t yet. From Matlock to ManU

6 September 2015 at 6:52 pm #144615I think GC and the lads deserve a lot of credit, they have only been playing together 5 mins and yet we are at the right end of the table. If we can keep in touch with the leaders while we are still trying to knit as a team then there is no telling what we can achieve this season. Gary proved yesterday that he has a plan B and slowly he is putting the feelgood factor back into most fans. For some however success is not enough and only miracles will suffice. Give the team and Gary time to grow together before we can say how good/bad he is as a manager. BELIEVE.

How good did that new lad from bowton lok see him doing wel kelletI have to agree with that. it’s just a pity he’s not a right sided player, James looks very comfortable in that position, but we can’t depend on JJ Kenney being with us long term so Kellett would fill that void.

What a journey!6 September 2015 at 8:43 pm #144619Never got this thing of leaving way before end because things aren’t going well, people will always leave early for a quick getaway, catch trains etc and that’s fair enough.
As for the game, massive win that, team showed fighting spirit and togetherness, Kellet and McCann made a difference, though I couldn’t understand Vukinic being taken off, he was one player who looked like he could make things happen even at 2-0.
Early days still, hopefully we can push on and build on yesterday.
