totally inept performance, bolton did not have to do anything to win the game, defence was totally rubbish.
only about three players clapped fans at end but did not come near away end, probably because they were embarrased about the performance rest of players went straight down tunnel. Its a good job there are worse teams than us in division.
ref did not have a good game, all in all a sh.t day think ill have a beer.
A very very bad game played in cr@p cold windy conditions on a grey soulless ground.The first goal was lucky and it set them up for the day but no way did they deserve to win by four goals no way!
Hardly the end of the world and if you had offered me 3 points from the Liverpool game and this one i would have taken it.

The problem I have with today is trying to name anyone that had a reasonable game. Usually there’s at least one player you can say played well.
Today – not one.
We played in their hands. there used to the big hoof any crosses in their box and they were winning the ball. we should have been upin the tempo but with the subs he fetch on. we just lost the plot.as for caldwell he’s had a bad game but he has done ok since arriveing. Played well on monday 2 up front 1st half Rodders and Moreno why change things today!. Totally mystifys me Robertos tactics 1 upfronts not working!were continually losing possesion 90% of the time imo and making things easy for Bolton!putting “UNNECESSARY” pressure on the midfield and defence!
Rodders took some stick today on his own with no support if you want to play 1 upfront roberto the midfield must be instructed to move upfield quickly to support the lone striker!

It was a harsh reminder as to why I DON’T go away so often. It’ll be a while until I do again, deary me. I’ve seen some inept displays in my 25 seasons as a fan, but that has to be up there with the worst of them.

At what point were we playing 4-4-2 on Monday? We didn’t have two up front, we had one up front in defence, then three in attack. It was the same system as today, but on Monday it looked more convincing.
Your argument falls down when you say

The extra out and out striker in a 4-4-2 formation isn’t there to hold possession, he’s there to score goals. In a 4-5-1 / 4-3-3, the whole point of the system is keeping possession, holding the ball up, and bringing men into the game.
It clearly did not work today….tell you what, I can’t even be bothered going over all this again, so I’ll accede….we should play 4-4-2, get the ball to the byline etc.
