Here you goQuality that garswood, it is certainly a nicer cup than the Freight Rover Trophy and on that subject should that rustbucket mini bus we also won that day also be in the cabinet?
23 May 2013 at 11:09 pm #114419Just to clarify the photo isn’t mine. It was on someone’s Facebook feed.

Is that the actual trophy in our actual cabinet?
If so, can anyone tell me what the other trophies are?23 May 2013 at 11:44 pm #114426It’s the trophy cabinet at the stadium. The others I believe are rugby trophies.
It’s quite a few years since I’ve been up there, but there are a few Latics trophies in there (I think there was a memento of the Autowindscreens).
I think the one far right with the blue ribbons is a replica of the Division 2 trophy.
24 May 2013 at 1:03 am #114431Had to laugh at the geezer walking up and down Standishgate on Monday, with an handful of silver balloons. They were European Cup balloons that he had probably stashed away since united won it.
From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!24 May 2013 at 10:15 pm #114483L-R – Rugby League Championship Trophy, Promotion Shield from 2005, FA Cup, Super League Leaders Shield, Lancashire Cup (another Leaders Shield I think infront), EDIT – It’s something from Arsenal, 2nd or 3rd Division.
Latics wise there are several performance of the week awards, a 2nd Division and 3rd Division replica, a mini Auto Windscreens Shield similar to those the players were given, several momentos from clubs such as Man Utd, Chelsea and Arsenal (a few from Highbury obv) and strangely an engraved trowel thing from the rebuilding of the Pheonix Stand and a cake in the shape of a yellow submarine from the Villareal clash.

Thanks Egg.
Am surprised we share a cabinet with the rugby TBH!
That aside, I wasn’t aware there was a “trophy” for coming second in the league (ref 2005 shield) – we always thought it was an injustice that you got a cup for winning the league and one for winning the play offs but nothing for 2nd.
25 May 2013 at 11:27 pm #114530I knew there was one cabinet, and although some posters would disagree, I think it would be great and historic for our little backwater town (according to the media) if it could house both the FA Cup and the RL Challenge Cup.

26 May 2013 at 1:19 am #114536TBF if they take all the crap momento stuff out then there’s plenty room.
I think the promotion shield was something Coca Cola introduced.
